Nicolas Cage Carjacks Joel Kinnaman in Wild ‘Sympathy for the Devil’ Trailer
Nicholas Cage leans into madness while Joel Kinnaman tries to survive in this twisted tale of a carjacking. Check out the first Sympathy for the Devil trailer.
The action takes place around Las Vegas over the course of the night. Kinnaman plays against type as a man who just wants to support his wife as she has a baby. He has no idea how he ended up in this situation and is doing his best to make it out alive and back to his wife. Cage leans hard into type as a carjacker with unknown motives. He exists to create chaos and has no problem yelling or shooting his way out of a problem.
The trailer starts with Nic Cage’s character (referred to only as The Passenger) telling Joel Kinnaman (known only as The Driver): “People always say, ‘Don’t assume the worst.’ Sometimes the worst is exactly what you should assume.” Where are they really going and which of these opposing characters will make it out of this twisted journey?

The cast is led by Nicolas Cage and Joel Kinnaman and also features Kaiwi Lyman, Cameron Lee Price, Rich Hopkins, Nancy Good, Alexis Zollicoffer, and Oliver McCallum. The movie is directed by Yuval Adler (The Operative) from a script by Luke Paradise (this is his first feature).
After being forced to drive a mysterious passenger at gunpoint, a man finds himself in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse where it becomes clear that not everything is as it seems.
Sympathy for the Devil hits theaters and digital July 28.
