‘PIRATE BORG’: ‘MÖRK BORG’s Pirate Themed Spinoff is Coming For You Landlubbers
Yar har fiddle tee dee, MÖRK BORG‘s upcoming spinoff is going to take your adventures in a piratey new direction with PIRATE BORG.
Free League Publishing and Limithron’s popular doom metal tabletop RPG MÖRK BORG is getting a brand new scurvy-ridden spinoff this fall in PIRATE BORG.
PIRATE BORG
On September 19th, just in time for International Talk Like a Pirate Day, there will be one more way to live out your most swashbuckling fantasies with PIRATE BORG. Inspired by history, fantasy, horror, and, of course, rum, this game will let you find your crew and take on hordes of skeletons, the Kraken, or even a potential mutiny on the high seas.
“PIRATE BORG is a game about being a greedy, filthy scoundrel. No prey, no pay. Find a ship. Recruit some crew. Raid, pillage, plunder, and otherwise pilfer your weasley black guts out. Get a bigger ship. Kill some things. Upgrade your ship. Sneak into a fort. Raid a port. Acquire treasure. Bury said treasure. Become infamous. Search for someone else’s treasure. Flee in terror from unfathomable creatures from the deep. Drink all of the rum. Die on the high seas. Roll a new character and do it all again. Dead men tell no tales, so you’d better get a live one as fast as you can.” – Free League Publishing
The game is available for pre-order right now on the Free League Publishing website, and pre-ordering will give players access to the PDFs ahead of the official release date. There will also be a sneak peek of PIRATE BORG at Gen Con, for anybody lucky enough to be docking their ship there.
The game book will span 166 pages and include eight new character classes, easy-to-learn naval combat rules, stats for 18 vessels, 80+ NPCs and monsters, 90+ system agnostic tables, and “The Curse of the Skeleton Point”, a sand-box style adventure with eleven unique pirate-themed locations.
PIRATE BORG is written and illustrated by Luke Stratton, aka Limithron. Stratton has had a lifelong fascination with the golden age of piracy. And he has made a name for himself drawing pirate ship battle maps. In addition to PIRATE BORG, Stratton has written Limithron’s Guide to Naval Combat for 5th Edition.
PIRATE BORG is sure to bring a very piratey flair to the unique MÖRK BORG charm that we’ve loved for years. But if you haven’t checked out MÖRK BORG just yet, now is a perfect time to get a little more familiar with this very unique game.
“MÖRK BORG is a blackened artpunk RPG about miserable bastards and heretics enduring a bleak, dying world. It came out of nowhere and ravaged the role-playing game scene in 2020 when it won four gold ENnies (Product of the Year being one of them) and has become a cult hit with a dedicated following ever since. In 2022, Free League and Stockholm Kartell released the praised spin-off game CY_BORG.” – Free League Publishing
