Disney is shifting it’s entire movie schedule. Check out where your favorite Marvel projects have landed this time.

The WGA strike is in it’s 7th week and its having long term effects on the production and release schedules. Multiple projects have been put on hold or stopped by picket lines – those include Andor S2, The Mandalorian S4, Cobra Kai S6, Stranger Things S5, Daredevil: Born Again, Wonder Man,  The Hedge Knight, Severence S2, Last of Us S2, Bladerunner 2099, The Penguin, Mission Impossible 8, and the Community movie.

Disney just put out a new movie schedule that pushes dates for major franchises back by up to three years.

The New Marvel Schedule

As a reminder, this is what the Marvel slate looked like when it was announced at SDCC 2022. Obviously, none of these stuck.

These are the dates announced today…

  • The Marvels stays on November 10, 2023
  • Captain America: Brave New World moves from May to July of 2024
  • Thunderbolts moves from July 2024 to December 2024
  • Deadpool 3 moves UP from November 2024 to May 3, 2024
  • Blade moves from September 2024 to February of 2025
  • Fantastic Four moves to May 2025
  • Avengers: The Kang Dynasty opens May 1, 2026
  • Avengers: Secret Wars opens May 7, 2027

Along with the WGA strike, there is the question of the Multiverse Saga‘s big villain. Jonathan Majors’ second court date for assault charges is today; as of writing, there has been no news from that appearance. Recent rumors say that the studio is looking at recasting Kang, but Marvel hasn’t made any public comments on Marjors’ case or how it might affect the story arc they have laid out.

  • Untitled SW Project moves from December 2025 to May 22, 2026

  • Untitled SW Project opens December 17, 2027
  • Avatar 4 moves from December 18, 2026 to December 12, 2029
  • Avatar 5 (20th) moves from December 22, 2028 to December 19, 2031

WGA Stike

On Tuesday, May 2, more than 11,000 members of the Writer’s Guild Association (WGA) went on strike after contract negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) stalled. The members are asking for an updated pay structure for streaming shows, healthcare, requirements regarding length of employment for projects, and regulations on the use of AI. You can read the full list – with how the AMPTP has responded – here.

There’s no estimate on when the strike will end – that’s up to the AMTPT – or how it will impact projects scheduled in the coming months.
