That New Open-World Star Wars Game Is Gonna Be Absolutely Wizard
Star Wars Outlaws is an Open-World Star Wars game unveiled at the Xbox Showcase today and I can just tell it’s gonna be Wizard.
Microsoft’s big Xbox Showcase was looking pretty good, as you’ll no doubt soon be aware. But, one thing in particular, nobody saw coming. We got a first look at Ubisoft’s new Open-World Star Wars game, Star Wars Outlaws. The world premiere trailer shows off quite a bit.
From the protagonist to a possible villain, to the sorts of hijinks you can get up to. This looks like the game a lot of Star Wars fans have been wanting. Let’s take a look at the trailer.
You Had Me At Open-World Star Wars Game
So. First things first, this game addresses one of the primal fantasies of Star Wars. There are like four, maybe five, deeply rooted core ideas that people desperately want to experience in Star Wars: being a Jedi/Sith/Force User, obviously. There are countless games for that. But slightly lesser-known is the absolute dream of being a Han Solo.
That roguish smirk. One hand on a blaster, the other on whatever credits you can grab out of life? Yeah, the appeal is massive, even without relying on a mystical energy field that unites all living things.
It’s also something that very few Star Wars games have delivered on. Not really. There’s Star Wars: The Old Republic, and that’s it. Other games might have you playing a scoundrelly type, but Outlaws puts it all right there in the title.
Here’s what we know about the game so far:
Experience the first-ever open world Star Wars™ game, set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Explore distinct planets across the galaxy, both iconic and new. Risk it all as Kay Vess, an emerging scoundrel seeking freedom and the means to start a new life, along with her companion Nix. Fight, steal, and outwit your way through the galaxy’s crime syndicates as you join the galaxy’s most wanted.
You play as Kay Vess, you have a cute pet voiced by Dee Bradley Baker (who voiced Appa, Momo, and countless others of your favorite animal companions). And you get into shenanigans doing crimes in Star Wars.
That’s the promise of shows like Andor and The Mandalorian. It’s the dingier side of the galaxy far, far away. Open-world Star Wars game. What more do you need?
And it’s coming soon(ish) with a release date scheduled for 2024!
