The Expanse: A Telltale Series has a new trailer and is now up for preorder!

The Expanse is a popular series of sci-fi novels that started in 2011 about a future where humanity has colonized much of the solar system without interstellar travel. The series eventually became a very popular TV show that originally aired on the Syfy network and was moved to Amazon after Season 3. The popularity of the show got it a comic mini, a board game, and a tabletop roleplaying game.

Telltale Games announced at The Game Awards 2021 that a brand new game would be released based on the TV version of the series, the first video game for it ever. The Expanse: A Telltale Series is a prequel to the show and will be starring Cara Gee as the popular Camina Drummer on a scavenger ship name Artemis. The announcement was a surprise because Telltale Games went bankrupt at one point. Luckily, they bounced back with new teams and new titles in the works. The developers aren’t done yet and things are looking solid so far.

Good, Bad–You Decide

Telltale released a brand new story trailer for the game that shows Camina Drummer has found something that can set the entire crew of Artemis for life or doom them all. Players will find themselves dealing with choices that can change the course of the story in different ways. Telltale used to be one of the most well-known for this and the new teams are hoping to keep that tradition alive.

Being a prequel story, Drummer will be safe but the rest of the crew is up in the air. The trailer promises everything from mystery, action, troubled pasts, and romance. This trailer could be from just the first episode of the series or hint at things later. The game will be released on July 27th with just the first episode and more to come.

Game Editions

The game is currently up for preorder and reveals there are 2 versions of the game: A standard one and a deluxe edition. The standard edition will come with all 5 episodes as they release:

-Episode 1: Archer’s Paradox
-Episode 2: Hunting Grounds
-Episode 3: First Ones
-Episode 4: Impossible Objects
-Episode 5: Europa’s Folly

The deluxe edition is a little more expensive and will come with all 5 episodes as they release as well as the soundtrack and a special DLC episode:

-Episode 1: Archer’s Paradox
-Episode 2: Hunting Grounds
-Episode 3: First Ones
-Episode 4: Impossible Objects
-Episode 5: Europa’s Folly
-Original Soundtrack
-Bonus Episode: ARCHANGEL

The special episode can most likely be bought separately if you buy the standard edition. ARCHANGEL also already has a small synopsis that can be found on the Xbox Store and other stores.

“Set against the backdrop of the UNN Peace Operations, a unit formed to defend earth from impending danger, “ARCHANGEL” is an all-new chapter that features a beloved character from the hit TV series.”

The game is looking fantastic with the new development teams looking to avoid making the same mistakes that were made in the past. The Expanse has a very loyal fanbase and Telltale does not want to disappoint them, especially with this being the very first video game about the series. Only time will tell though if making a prequel was the way to go though and if Telltale can rise from the ashes.
