At the end of last season, a war is on. Monsters and magic appear in ways that haven’t been seen in centuries. The forces needed to win the battle come from all over the Continent. Humans, Elves, Mages, and Witchers will all play a part in defeating dark forces.
The experiences of the trio of lead characters force them to prepare for what’s coming. Ciri is no longer a scared princess. She’s become a headstrong fighter with a witty sense of humor. Her relationship with Geralt grows into something less of a responsibility than one of love and care. Geralt is less of an impenetrable force; the Witcher doesn’t live just for himself anymore. Yennifer navigates the treacherous politics of the Wizard’s Council. All of them gain an understanding of what’s at risk – and it includes each other.

The Witcher Season 3 will likely cover the major events in the next two books – Baptism of Fire and The Tower of the Swallow. The elves become a much larger part of the story, and the universe is about to get much bigger. On top of the war continuing, the Wizard’s Council has been shattered by a coup, and the future of magic is under threat. The Wild Hunt is looming. Everyone is on the hunt for Ciri, the child of prophecy and savior.

The new The Witcher Season 3 trailer is filled with the action and monsters the show is known for, as well as some humor from Jaskier and a fancy party filled with foes. It shows moments of tenderness between Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer. They’re adjusting to their life as a family and the threats that come with it.
The Witcher Season 3 Cast & Details
The core cast and crew are returning. This is Henry Cavill’s last season as Geralt. He’s being replaced in Season 4 and Season 5 by Liam Hemsworth (Chris’ younger brother, who is known for his role in The Hunger Games franchise). He’s tall, built, and can look successfully scruffy.
As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding. He is determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza. Where she hopes to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers. Instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line — or risk losing each other forever.
This season is split in two, as Netflix has annoyingly gotten in the habit of doing. Episodes 1-5 drop this month and 6-8 in July.
The Witcher Season 3 arrives on Netflix on June 29th and July 27th.
