Do something with all those delivery boxes hanging around your house – build a cardboard buster sword this weekend.

One of the most iconic things, along with the Chocobo, to come from the Final Fantasy series is the buster sword. Its giant proportions should make it totally unwieldable, but the characters of the game are masters at controlling them. In Final Fantasy 7 Remake Cloud carries a massive buster sword. It’s around six feet long with a single-edged blade that’s one foot wide.

Crafty Transformer shows how he built an awesome looking buster sword out of cardboard, craft glue, a bolt, and some basic geometry. In this video, he shows off what a cardboard buster sword can do and how to build it.

Dimensions (in mm) to create a template are below. You’ll have to figure out the sizing for the layers, but it shouldn’t be too hard to accomplish as it’s all lines and no curves.

If you’re looking for a fun weekend project and a way to recycle all of those Amazon boxes, this is a really cool option. It would look great displayed or with your next cosplay – you can even opt to paint it.

Make sure you check out Crafty Transformer’s other cardboard creations on Youtube and Twitter. He’s made some truly amazing video game replica weapons.
