Warhammer 40K: Warhammer World Display With Tyranid Teasers
Games Workshop is cooking up something exciting for Warhammer World and they might be hiding some new Nids, too!
In case you didn’t see it, Warhammer World is getting a MASSIVE new diorama for the release of Warhammer 40,000: Leviathan. It’s called Retreat From Kitzu VII and they showed off a bunch of awesome behind-the-scenes shots so far.
“Responding to warnings of alien-worshipping cults rising on Kitzu VII, Kayvaan Shrike leads his Raven Guard to reinforce the planet’s Imperial defenders. Upon arrival, the Space Marines discover a world already overrun by Tyranid monsters.
Determined to salvage something from the disaster, Shrike’s warriors claim bio-samples from the evolved forms of rampaging xenos. In danger of being surrounded and devoured themselves, the Space Marines stage a fighting retreat across the Celestrus macro-viaduct, even as their Stormraven extraction craft begins to lift off!”
Tyranid Teasers
You can see more of the pics from the WarCom article as it looks like quite the undertaking. Totally worth checking out if you’re a fan of crazy terrain projects like I am. Anyhow, what really caught my eye was one of the other pictures documenting the Tyranids that were also being worked on:
Okay so we’ve got various trays of Tyranids in their different stages of being painted. Cool, cool…but what’s up with the soft blurring at the top. That’s when it hit me — they might be trying to obscure something else…
So…we’ve got quite a few Tyranid bits in the pile but what are those right behind the Haruspex? Maybe it’s just another group of them but something looks different…
The maw is wider and the bodies look more…centipede? They kind of remind me of the old school versions of these creatures:
Those are the old Epic models that were also ported over to armorcast. But the point remains — we can’t tell what those models are but we REALLY want to know! There’s other stuff back there that we think has been intentionally blurred.
We know that GW has plans for more Space Marines and Tyranids models. The side that wins in the Battle for Oghram will get their new stuff revealed first. In either case, this display is slated to be installed on June 30th. If you’re visiting Warhammer World be sure to pop in and check it out. I have a funny feeling there might be a few surprises there. If nothing else, it’s going to look awesome when it’s done!
What do you think GW has blurred out? What a bunch of teases!
