‘Who The Devil Are You?’ is a New Game and a Whole New Experience From Monte Cook
Who The Devil Are You? is a new RPG that gets players involved in the game’s world-building and you can order it now.
Monte Cook Games recently introduced Who The Devil Are You?, a brand new tabletop roleplaying game and a whole new take on the TTRPG genre.
Who the Devil Are You?
In your standard tabletop RPG, the GM designs the world and the story. It’s not unusual for the players to (sometimes accidentally) have a hand in altering aspects of the game and world slightly, but at its core, it’s still the GM’s story to tell. Other games have a mixed sort of system where the players and GM work together to build the world.
But Who The Devil Are You? does something completely different and has the players build the world they’ll be playing in. Because why should the GMs do all of the work?!
“You start with an image prompt that sets a scene. Any prompt—science fiction, fantasy, horror, modern, or even weird or comical; it all works. The players collaborate to decide what the scene depicts: what’s happening, who’s there, and why. Then they build characters ready to engage the situation they created, while GM takes what they’ve come up with and sketches out the conflict, some basic plot points, and maybe a few details.” – Monte Cook Games
Fast Paced, Narrative Drive, and Unique
The outcome is a fast-paced and narrative-driven game with very little prep work. Who the Devil Are You? is a game that focuses on creativity and playing and working together as a team. Everyone around the table is engaged in the situation that they’ve helped create. And the GM takes what the players have created and from them fleshes out the conflict, basic plot points, and maybe a few secret details for later.
If you love tabletop RPGs, but prep work isn’t your thing, this game is for you. And if you want to try your hand at GMing but need a little help coming up with an initial idea, Who the Devil Are You? and its ‘make your players figure it out’ style of game prep might be the answer you’ve been looking for.
