‘Deadpool 3’ – Hugh Jackman’s Retro Wolverine Suit Revealed
The moment you’ve been waiting for is here – check out Wolverine’s old-school comic and cartoon inspired suit in Deadpool 3.
What we know about the upcoming Deadpool sequel: Free Guy‘s Shawn Levy is directing, with Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin (both known for Bob’s Burgers) writing. The writers’ room also includes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who both worked on Deadpool 1 & 2.
It’s been confirmed that they’re not holding back just because Deadpool is a part of the MCU. The writers are going for an R-rating for the third chapter, making it a first for Marvel Studios.
“They are gonna let Deadpool be Deadpool, you know? It’s not like any particular joke may be the one that they say, ‘You know, that’s too far,’ that could happen, but to this point, it’s been nothing but support.”
Deadpool 3 Cast
The confirmed cast includes Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, Rob Delaney, Shioli Kutsuna, Stefan Kapicic, and Leslie Uggams is back as Blind Al. Last week it was confirmed that Jennifer Garner is going to be in the movie as Elektra. Emma Corrin is cast as an unnamed villain.
On top of that, there are rumors running around about the return of the 2000s-era X-Men including Famke Janssen’s Jean Grey, Halle Berry’s Storm (check the hair), and James Marsden’s Cyclops.
Wolverine’s New Retro Suit
So far, we’ve gotten out-of-costume promo videos of Jackman and some grainy paparazzi photos of filming in the UK (Reynolds has a soccer team to manage). That changed this morning thanks to Deadpool creator Robert Liefeld posting on Instagram. They’ve gone retro for Logan’s suit. It’s glorious.
Marvel was nice enough to share a better, high res photo on Twitter.
Screaming yellow suit with blue accents? Check. X detail on the belt buckle? Check. Mutton Chops? Check. Weird angled, flat top haircut? Check. That’s the Wolverine I grew up with in after-school cartoons come to life… taller, but whatever. I can’t wait to see how they handle his mask, and kinda sad they didn’t go with contrast trunks.
What do you think? Is it retro, sarcastic goodness, or did they go too far? Not far enough?
Deadpool 3 arrives in theaters on September 4, 2024.
