It looks like overgrowth has taken over these ancient ruins in the latest Rumor Engine from Games Workshop.

We’re back on Tuesday with a brand new Rumor Engine and this one looks like it’s got some story to tell. Plus we get an update on the meta-narrative that is the Rumor Engine. So let’s dive in!

Rumor Engine: Ancient Ruins

So what are we looking at? Well, this is clearly some sort of arch or doorway that’s seen better days. We’ve got some sort of moss or slime hanging off of it as well as some branches or roots that are growing around it. Could this be part of a decorative base or perhaps something more? Unfortunately, this design really could be anything. But I think it’s likely something from the Age of Sigmar instead of 40k.

Here’s just one example of similar ruins being used as part of a very fancy scenic base. I’m not saying this is a Skaven related tease, but I’m also not ruling it out either. Frankly, there’s just not enough to go on with this one. You could make a case for something from the Sylvaneth range on account of the plant life but that seems like a reach — but then again, that’s part of the fun of the Rumor Engine!

Meta-narrative Update

Now, for the past few weeks the folks that “work” for the Rumor Engine have been under a bit of scrutiny. There may have been some interesting AI-related developments from the Rumor Engine itself and there was an investigation. In fact, “we” got promoted last week in the “Office of Reduction, Divination, and Observation” or ORDO. So…that was a thing. But that’s all been wrapped up now.

“Our investigation has concluded, and established that no untoward behaviour has been observed from the Rumour Engine at any period covered by its custodians’ detailed archives. As a special reward for your diligent service, you are now invited to continue your work for the Office of Reduction, Divination, and Observation – as a junior investigator, you will be compensated for your labour with competitive levels of exposure, which we are informed is far more valuable than boorish wages.

If instead, you would prefer to simply continue your guessing in an equally unpaid manner, you are free to do so. The Office is generous, you may be assured.”

I guess “we” are going to have to stick with access to these seemingly random images over “wages” from ORDO. Makes sense as I don’t recall filling out any paperwork to work there in the first place.

No paperwork trail for the Inquisitors to follow…
