Legions Imperialis: Future Army Expansions
If we follow the same path as Warhammer: The Horus Heresy then Legions Imperialis has a lot of armies to expand into.
The game isn’t even out yet and here we are wishlisting about some new armies. Well, to be more precise, we’re trying to predict what armies could also be added in a future expansion for the game. The good news is we don’t have to guess wildly as we’ve already got a roadmap from Games Workshop as the game is set in the Horus Heresy already. That means there’s armies in the 40k scale game that could make an appearance in Legions Imperialis. That’s if Games Workshop wants to bust out their magic shrink ray…
They say these weren’t created by shrink ray…but we’re still suspicious.
Future Legions Imperialis Armies
The Mechanicum
They check all the boxes for an army in Legions Imperialis. There’s lots of Automatas to build in a variety of sizes. They have access to some seriously massive firepower. They build freakin’ Knights already! Plus, GW could introduce the Dark Mechanicum elements and double-dip like they are doing for both the Space Marines and Solar Auxilia. C’mon…what do you think?! It’s a robot inception.
Legio Custodes
The Custodes have a TON of Horus Heresy-era units from Forge World. Plus they have some monster-sized Dreadnoughts of their own. Additionally, they have Gyrfalcon Jetbikes, other flyers, and transports/tanks. Plus all of those are grav-tanks which will look different from Space Marines and the Solar Aux tanks. I think this would be a natural expansion option for Legions Imperialis!
Daemons of the Ruinstorm
Okay I know this is a pretty small segment of the Traitor Forces…but Daemon Primarchs were a thing in EPIC and I feel like some more daemons and daemon units would be a neat way to expand the game. Eventually. I’ll be perfectly honest: I really just want a tiny Ka’Bandha Bloodthirster model.
Legions Imperialis has a lot of room to grow based on the Horus Heresy range. We haven’t even mentioned all those Primarchs and specialist units for the Legions…
