Star Wars: Five Reasons We’re Excited For ‘Ahsoka’
Ahsoka is coming out soon, and the new trailer just gave us a lot of reasons to be excited about it.
Star Wars shows on Disney+ have been a little hit or miss. On the one hand, you’ve got some messy duds like Book of Boba Fett. On the flip side (of the force?) you’ve got stuff like Andor, the best thing Disney has made for Star Wars. Even though we’ve been burned, in lava, before we still can’t help but get excited for new shows. Ahsoka is no exception. It promises to bring back some fan-favorite characters and return to the compelling stories started in Rebels. The show is only about a month away. On top of that, a new trailer just dropped.
Ahsoka is Bringing in More EU Stuff
Star Wars tv- shows have done a great job of bringing back parts of the old Expanded Universe. Ahsoka appears to be following this path. The new trailer shows off what appears to be a New Republic E-Wing. This classic EU ship is a fan favorite. I think we can expect to see more of it coming and it’s a real reason why I’m excited for Star Wars: Ahsoka.
Ahsoka Being a Master
The new trailer implied a surprising fact. It appears at one point Ahsoka Tano trained the Rebel/Mandalorian Sabine Wren as a Jedi. We had seen the news that Sabine would use a lightsaber in the show, and she has used the Darksaber before. But I hadn’t thought that Ahsoka was training her. Indeed its not even 100% clear that Sabine is force sensitive. However, I do think this is a really cool and interesting angle. It’s a facet of Ahsoka we haven’t seen before–her as a Master. In addition, it will be interesting to see how this meshes with her instance that she’s not a Jedi.
Rebels Characters
I really loved Star Wars: Rebels. So I was excited when it seemed that Ahsoka might bring back some of those characters and build on or finish their arcs. The more we’ve seen the more it’s clear they are going to play a big role in the show. We always knew Ahsoka and Thrawn were going to be a focus, but they aren’t from Rebels originally. But we’ve now seen Chopper, Ezra, Sabine, and Hera Syndulla in the show. It seems that at least Hera and Sabine are going to play some major roles. Zeb has already shown up in live-action, so it’s not a stretch to think we will get some of him either.
Ahsoka Teases Space Battles
Now the new trailer doesn’t show off a big space battle. But it does hint at one. We get some really cool shots of a large New Republic fleet. We also get a few snippets of more minor space conflicts. The Disney+ live-action shows have shown off some dogfights and small space battles. However we’ve never really gotten a big battle, say on the scale of Rebels. One of the reasons I’m excited about Star Wars: Ahsoka is that it might do this at last. Certainly, the Thrawn saga is deserving of some big fights. I’m interested to see what Disney can do with a big TV space battle.
Thrawn
Need I say more than Grand Admiral Thrawn?
