Ramesses is the “Warrior Pharaoh” in the coming Total War: Pharaoh from Creative Assembly. Fast and furious, here’s how he plays.

Total War: Pharaoh will take you back to the bronze age and the turning of an era. We’ve seen the four different Egyptian faction leaders, and now we’re taking a closer look at each one. Starting with the Paragon: Ramesses.

In a new video, Creative Assembly showcases the “warrior pharaoh” and his gameplay faction. Though he is young and has a reputation for being swift as the winds, he doesn’t start off with the wealthiest provinces. In fact, his economy is quite fragile at the beginning. Take a look.

Ramesses Gameplay Breakdown

Ramesses has a start in North Sinai and right away we get a look at the underpinning mechanics. Resources like wood and stone and metal are available for trade with allies. Setting up a trade empire is one way to get ahead.

Ramesses, in particular excels in court. Since he has two Court Actions per turn, he can potentially snowball. Although he is just as capable on the battlefield, as you can see here.

As Ramesses earns competencies, he can unlock up to four different slots for a title. Each of these titles grants unique abilities to your faction, whether to specific units or to your populace or other areas. Each leader can have a different combination of titles across multiple playthroughs, meaning you can customize your campaign even further.

Speaking of competencies, Ramesses Royal Decrees are the research tree. These unlock new buildings, units, and more. Each one provides a different focus for your faction to grow into.

As Ramesses progresses, Egypt falls into unrest and civil war, opening up a path to Legitimacy in different arenas. In the video we get a look at the Egyptian Legitimacy path and the Hatti Legitimacy path.

Which would you choose?
