‘Wonka’ – Charming Timothée Chalamet Takes on the Chocolate Cartel in First Trailer
Imagination, invention, and inspiration take center stage in this cinematic treat about a young Wonka trying to make it in the candy business.
Fans of Timothée Chalamet are in for a treat this year – the actor is in Dune: Part Two, which drops November 3rd, and a little over a month later he makes his debut as the famous candy maker. A young version of Willy Wonka that’s less cynical but just as musical and inventive.
Wonka explores the title character’s life before he became a famous confectioner that hid golden tickets in his delicious chocolate bars. The movie promises to be an imaginative cinematic experience that will introduce audiences to a young Willy Wonka, filled with hope and determined to revolutionize the world one tasty morsel at a time. It’s a mix of magic, music, and mayhem told with heart and humor (this is a Paul King movie, after all).
In this world, reaching your dreams is possible–and if fortune allows you to cross paths with Wonka, the sky’s the limit.
Wonka Cast & Details
The movie is from Paul King, writer/director of the Paddington films – as I’m sure fans noticed, it’s got the vibe and some of the cast.
Starring alongside Chalamet are Calah Lane, Keegan-Michael Key, Paterson Joseph, Matt Lucas, Mathew Baynton, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson, and Jim Carter, with Oscar winner Olivia Colman. The film also stars Natasha Rothwell, Rich Fulcher, Rakhee Thakrar, Tom Davis and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith.
Based on the extraordinary character at the center of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Roald Dahl’s most iconic children’s book and one of the best-selling children’s books of all time, “Wonka” tells the wondrous story of how the world’s greatest inventor, magician and chocolate-maker became the beloved Willy Wonka we know today.
Wonka arrives in theaters on December 15, just in time for the holidays.
