‘Baldur’s Gate 3’ Patch 2 Promises Faster Performance & New Epilogues
Details about Baldur’s Gate 3, Patch 2 tease big changes for beloved characters in the not-too-distant future.
Baldur’s Gate 3 has already been a home run for Larian Studios. The game shattered records for critical scores and concurrent players, and people in general seem to be having a great time.
But. Larian Studios doesn’t seem content to rest upon its considerable laurels. Just a few days ago, they released the first major patch, addressing more than 1,000 different issues. From bug fixes to “story flow and logic” Patch 1 really worked out the kinks.
And today, Larian developers teased that even more is in store, revealing that work is already underway on Baldur’s Gate 3, Patch 2.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 2 – ‘Coming Soon’
With scant details of an “equally chonky” patch 2, Larian devs revealed a little bit about what’s in store.
An equally chonky Patch 2 is right around the corner. We’re discussing internally about comms, dates & rollout. As well as all things around it. We’ll give details soon.

Right away there are a few big things to be excited about. First and foremost are the “major performance improvements.” Players who have been running with an especially magic-user-heavy party will have doubtless experienced some of these issues. But by and large, the game is already fairly smooth. Updating and improving this will only push the higher end of the game’s graphics even higher, so you can enjoy your chosen fantasy lover in rich detail.
But then on top of that, Baldur’s Gate 3, Patch 2 will also be the start of some fairly big story reworking. In the post above, Larian promises it will begin its “journey incorporating feedback into Origin Character epilogues, among other major changes.”
Now, you might be wondering, “what do they mean, feedback?”
Without getting too spoilery—people have their favorites. Whether it’s the muscle mommy or the vampire twink or the affable edgelord, there are a lot of thirsty fans out there who may be surprised to learn that not every story has a happy ending, no matter how hard you try. But then there are other characters whose stories feel a little more unfair than most.
If you want to see a clearer example, just look for Justice for Minthara on any Baldur’s Gate 3 forum, and you’ll see what I mean. Suffice it to say, Larian has made a solid reputation of working with feedback to help the game grow even more. That’s one of the major reasons Divinity Original Sins 1 & 2 have the longevity they do.
And if Baldur’s Gate 3, Patch 2 is any indication, this is just the beginning.
They thought I was mad when I made 12 different characters, but now who’s laughing. Major update? I’ve got a new playthrough ready to go!
