Goatboy’s Warhammer 40K Thoughts – NOVA Open 40K Preview Predictions
Goatboy here. The NOVA Open is coming next week with nice new GW preview. Here’s what what I think we’ll see for Warhammer 40K.
I am pretty sure it’s going to be Marines as the Tyranids were previewed already. Plus, we know the next two books are Space Marines and Tyranids. So its a pretty good guess to say will see some of the power armored poster boys of the 40K universe.
Space Marine Predictions
So what would I want to see besides a new cover for the Codex? Well a lot of things actually, as we all know a ton of older Marine kits are getting “Legended”. The true age of the Bigger Marine is finally upon us. I am pretty happy about that just cuz one of the first new armies I painted during the pandemic was a full Primaris Space Marine army that I would love to add on to it. I just liked the new bigger models better and while we had some dances with Vanguard Vets and their nonsense it is nice to hear they are finally gone.
New Vanguard – PLEASE!
Which leads me to what I hope we see – new Vanguard like Veterans that have a ton of cool bits, a ton of cool options, and might actually be good. Or make them like cool jump pack Bladeguard Jerks called the JumpBladeGuards. The whole lack of a true Primaris jump assault option is always a shame since we sorta had one show up with the Character Ravenguard Shrike and his fancy new update/upgrade/makeover. It feels like the one model piece that is missing from the grand blanket of new Marine units.
Multi-part Terminators
From there I am hoping we see a full multiple part kit for the Terminators. While the new kits in the starter box is cool it would be nice to have all the options in the bigger terms. Things like Storm Shields, Thunder Hammers, and other fun long ranged weapons. It’s s just one of those marquee kits that should be easy to update to help complete the model range for new players to buy and paint up.
Embiggened Lysander… Maybe?
From there we could look at some of the left over characters that haven’t been “shifted”. As this is a normal Marine release we would think about looking at Lysander maybe as a cool option – especially if they release bigger Terminators too. It feels like one of those obvious updates and force a ton of players to groan at trying to paint a ton of yellow armored Marines again. Heck they could sell a combo with the yellow Contrast paint too.
No thanks, we’re all good.
Hold Off on Vehicles
I don’t feel like we need to see a ton of tank options as the range is pretty dang filled with Primaris tanks right now. Leaning more on the actual Marines themselves would just be better. I don’t think we’ll see Scouts again as they have all the other options that fit that mold and while having a sweet Speeder to ride around in would be neat it isn’t needed. I just don’t see the need for anything like that in what they want the Marines to be – an elite style force of space jerks.
It’s kinda lonely out here on the road…
Bike Characters Please!
On the other side of characters I really would love to see more Biker Characters especially on the outrider chassis. The Chaplain was such a sweet model! Having a Captain on a bike would really help sell some of the other chapters love of bikes. It’s just one of those things that we are missing right now in the game and just would be neat.
Always Expect the Unexpected
Speaking about other characters do you think we’ll see a brand new Thunderfire like cannon with Tech Marine? It feels like something that would be cool and easy to do? Or how about creating a cool Character Dread box and maybe add the sprue to the new Brutalis Dreadnought to let you do things like a Chaplain dread, Libbie Dread, or just character dreadnought. It would be pretty interesting and unique which is always a fun selling point for a unit.
So what else do you think will see? Will we have new Devastators? Will we get even more mean shooting options that overwatch twice, exploding on 6’s and have anti everything?
Do you think a new codex can rocket Space Marines out of the crypt and back to number 1?
