The Cerastus Knight Lancer is getting a new plastic kit and it’s packing a punch in 30k, too!

We already took a closer look at the Knight Lancers in 40k. Now we’re going old school (at least timeline wise) to take a look at them during the Horus Heresy. And this shouldn’t be a shock to anyone: They still bring the PAIN!

Adding a Knight Lancer to your games of Warhammer: The Horus Heresy is easy. Similar to its 41st Millennium counterpart, you can include it in a dedicated army of Knights using the Household Detachment, or bring a Lancer along as an allied Lords of War choice for Legiones Astartes, Solar Auxilia, and so on. Either way, you’ll need the rules found in Liber Mechanicum.

Cerastus Knight Lancer In The Horus Heresy

First up we get a look at the stats of the Knight Lancer and you can see it’s fast and plenty tough. Don’t let that Armor 13/12/12 fool you — it’s got some extra staying power that we’ll get a look at down below.

It’s still packing that devastating Shock Lance. While it can do some damage via ranged attacks, it really shines in melee.

“In melee, the shock lance tosses out four Strength 10 attacks – and with Initiative 5 on the charge thanks to Reach (1), the Lancer is striking before any other Knight or Titan on the market. As if all that weren’t enough, Exoshock (5+) can potentially double each of your Penetrating Hits, with +1 on the Vehicle Damage Table thanks to AP2. “

Yeah those attacks are going to leave a mark! And mercy on the target that gets charged by this thing. But it still has to make it to melee, right? That 14″ move helps for sure — but the Ion Shield isn’t just for show.

A 4+ on the front and 5+ on the sides vs shooting is nothing to sneeze at. Plus it’s got 7 Hull Points to chew on. Additionally, once it gets to combat, that shield gives it a 5+ save vs all melee attacks, too. It’s enough to keep this Knight in the fight for longer than you might think!

What about some nice upgrades? Sure! Customize your Knight with a few more options under the hood:

Regardless of which options you spring for the Cerastus Knight Lancer is going to be a nice boost to your list. That lance doesn’t mess around and now that it’s coming in glorious plastic it will be even easier to field!
