Atomic Mass Games has revealed the details on two of the Villains from the updated Core Set of Marvel: Crisis Protocol!

Marvel: Crisis Protocol is getting a brand new core set refresher that includes alternate and updated heroes and villains in the box. We’ve already gotten a couple looks at the heroes. Today, we’re getting a look at Crossbones and Ultron.

Ultron, Metal Tyrant

Ultron is back with a new form as well as some goons (aka Grunts — more on them below). This version is a 5 Threat beast that brings the beat-sticks out to play. Not only is he tough he’s also surprisingly fast with Flight, a move of medium, and a 50mm base. He’s going to get where he needs to be and deliver those Concussion Blasts with a vengeance.

What really sets him apart from his previous incarnation is that he’s got those pesky Ultron Drones that are tied with his I Will Create A Better Age ability. These Ultron Drones are a little tougher than your average goons and can show up anytime a terrain feature is destroyed by an ally.

They share a few attributes with Ultron, Metal Tyrant in the special rules department and are mostly there just to cause problems for the other team. It’s a neat addition and Gives Ultron a bit more utility to carry out his plans for world domination.

Crossbones, Merciless Merc

Crossbones is back as well and this version is really being positioned as a “dark reflection” of Captain America. It kind of makes sense as he’s one of his Cap’s frequent antagonists (thanks in no small part to Red Skull employing him for various evil plots). Anyhow, Crossbones is relatively simple in terms of what he does — but he’s also deceptively fast. While he’s “only” got a move of Short he’s got Aggressive which allows him to make a move after taking damage towards the enemy that hurt him. Hit And Run also allows him to get some condensed action economy going with an attack and move in one.

While he might be “just a dude” he’s actually quite tough and has years of training. His ability I Can Take It also allows him to reduce enemy damage by 1 to a minimum of 1. This is going to keep him in the fight for a lot longer than he has any right to be — and that’s what makes him dangerous. That and his range 3 Beam attack…
