The Royal Handmaidens might look peaceful but they are prepared for a fight. It’s a closer look at Queen Amidala’s Entourage in Shatterpoint.

Apparently a young Kiera Knightley played Sabé in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. If you didn’t know that tidbit don’t feel too bad, it seems like she might have forgotten that at one point also. But what does that have to do with Star Wars: Shatterpoint? Well the character she portrayed is now making their debut on the tabletop!

“The bond between Sabé and Queen Amidala is strong, and it is no coincidence that this Royal Bodyguard closely resembles her charge. Not only is Sabé leader of the Handmaidens who protect the queen, she periodically serves as a decoy and stand-in, allowing Padmé Amadala to take on other vital tasks while disguised. Even when Sabé appears unarmed she is ready to confront potential threats and is quite ready and willing to give her life to save her beloved queen. She is both a skilled marksman and lethal martial artist, carrying hidden weapons on her person that can be brought to bear at a moment’s notice. “

Sabé leads the Royal Bodyguard for Queen Amidala. She clocks in at 4PC and has some helpful abilities that aid her fellow Handmaidens. But don’t think she’s only good with that unit as Sabé can also assist other Galactic Republic units, too. Being a bodyguard she can literally provide cover for your Primary Characters. Additionally, she can also assist with some Coordinated Assault action to give units some extra movement.

While she’s no Jedi, she’s also not a slouch in combat either! She’s got a blaster and isn’t afraid to use it and she’s had some combat training, too. Sabé has also got some defensive training that can flip a crit into a miss and also net her some movement at the highest level.

The Handmaidens are also handy in a fight! Their Intercede ability really does put them in harm’s way, but that’s what they are trained to do. Ideally, they will help to contain threats (or at least redirect them) to allow for your Primary and Secondary characters to do what they need to do!

Their attacks/stances are pretty simple — but they don’t need to be complicated to be effective. Again, they might not look very intimidating with their Handmaiden attire but that doesn’t mean they are wilting daisies in a fight! They also bring a heal to the tabletop which you might find useful!

Queen Amidala and her Handmaidens will be entering the fray with their own Squad Pack on September 1, 2023!
