Space Marine: The Board Game
This board game pits Lieutenant Titus against a horde of Termagants. Unfortunately we are a little light on the details for how this game plays. It looks as it there are some objectives to fight over — or at least for Titus to try and grab. We do know that you can play as either side in this asymmetrical 2-player game.
Target Product Description:
“In the grim darkness of the 41st Millennium, Humanity is spread thin, fighting a losing battle against enemies all across the galaxy. Space Marine: The Board Game is a thrilling survival game, pitting the noble Lieutenant Titus of the Ultramarines against endless swarms of all-consuming alien horrors! The box is packed with miniatures – you and a friend will take control of either the lone Space Marine, or more than 20 ravenous Tyranids that want to eat him alive. It’s fast-paced action, as Titus fights valiantly to defeat his enemies with superhuman strength and brutal weapons. Can he hold them back, or will the Tyranids overwhelm him in the end?”
According to an older WarCom article:
“The game includes everything you need to play out a brutal skirmish between Titus and a horde of Termagants, including 23 push-fit miniatures, dice, a ruler, a game board, and a 40-page rulebook packed with backstory and missions.”
This certainly seems like an introduction to the Warhammer Universe for newer players or people that might only be familiar with 40k from the video game side of things. I’m sure the upcoming Space Marine II video game is going to generate a lot of interest for those folks and this seems like a great on-ramp for them. For veteran players this does have that sweet new Titus mini as well as a bunch of ‘Gaunts.
It’s currently available at Target in the US for $39.99 — and if you’re familiar with the pricing of all those models, you’ll know that’s a pretty good deal. Shoot, I might snag one myself at that price just for the new ‘Gaunts…
I hope it’s not sold out everywhere…
