Age of Sigmar: Orruk Warclans Vanguard Box Revealed
This one really should have been called Vanguard: Kruleboyz based on what’s in the box. Regardless, it’s a good starting point.
Games Workshop is releasing a new Vanguard box and this one is technically for the Orruk Warclans. Why technically? Because it’s full of Kruleboyz and those units are a part of the Orruk Warclans even if they sometimes feel like their own army.
“[The Kruleboyz are] finding great success in snatching the eggs of exotic beasts from deep within the Gnarlwood, and as the Dawnbringer Crusades near their swamps, these kunnin’ killers slink out to inflict their unusual brand of orruk violence on anything stupid enough not to run screaming from their glowering skareshields. They’ve got the help of a brand new box – Vanguard: Orruk Warclans.”
Vanguard: Kruleboyz
So what’s in the Orruk Warclans Vanguard box?
- Killaboss on a Great Gnashtoof
- Murknob
- 10x Gutrippaz
- 3x Man-skewer Boltboyz
- Beast-skewer Killbow
That seems like a decent start to a Kruleboyz army. And considering your options for getting units like the Killaboss on a Great Gnashtoof and Murknob, this seems like a really good place to start. At least if you’re new and want to play Kruleboyz.
The other reason that this seems like a good starting point is because it’s got some basic core units that you’ll probably want. Gutrippaz and Boltboyz are pretty common for Kruleboyz so having a few “starter” blocks is a good idea. You’ll be able to add more if you want to later but it’s not so many that you’re locked into a particular build.
The Beast-skewer Killbow is also pretty great. It’s one of the more unique options in Orruk Warclans in general. And helps to add a threat within this boxed set for sure. Overall, it this Vanguard box does feel fairly well rounded and doesn’t pigeonhole you into a particular style of Kruleboyz army.
I’m still not sure why they didn’t name this box Vanguard: Kruleboyz but that’s fine. Ultimately if you’re looking to start a Kruleboyz army this will be your best bet when it comes out from Games Workshop.
“But Kruleboyz are on the cover of the Battletome!”
