Say hi, Intrepid Heroes! Dimension 20 teased a return to Elmville and the Aquefort Adventuring Academy with Fantasy High: Junior Year!

Five years ago, Dimension 20 brought a new wave of energy to D&D actual plays. Combining John Hughes movies and the typical tropes of D&D, Dimension 20’s first season, Fantasy High, was a sleeper hit in the Actual Play scene. Debuting on Dropout, growing out of the remains of CollegeHumor, the show was a risk.

Five years later, having established multiple seasons that play with genre and form, and mostly D&D (with the occasional dalliance with other systems), Dimension 20 announced yesterday that they were returning to the setting that started it all with Fantasy High: Junior Year.

Dimension 20 Announces Fantasy High: Junior Year

Buried in that Twitter thread, which reminisces over the long journey that the last five years have taken the cast through, is a teaser for Fantasy High: Junior Year. Fortunately, though, it’s also not just on the hellsite formerly known as Twitter, it’s also right here on YouTube.

This, of course, will be coming much later. Thankfully, Dropout was able to remain in production, even as the WGA and SAG-AFTRA negotiated deals with the profit-hungry executives at the AMPTP, whose greed cost the collective industry hundreds of times more money than agreeing to the demands in the first place would have. A fact that Brennan Lee Mulligan, who led a D&D-themed strike day, would surely appreciate.

Of course, for now, fans of Dimension 20 have the Burrow’s End season to look forward to. This is the season inspired by stories like the Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH (or the movie The Secret of NIMH) and The Fantastic Mr. Fox, which sees Aabria Iyengar DM for a table of Stoat adventurers.

All of this comes as Dropout celebrates its 5th anniversary, and has more in the work.

Get ready for Fantasy High: Junior Year!
