It’s a party here in Sin City and Magic fans from all over are “Gathering” to get in on the action.

If there’s one thing Magic fans love, it’s getting together with other fans to test their mettle and buy some snazzy swag. MagicCon gives players exactly that opportunity, plus exclusive looks at future releases, a chance to meet personalities, and the benefit of being in an awesome city. I was lucky enough to make my way down to the Entertainment Capital to partake in a few days of Magic content and boy howdy was it worth it.

Reading about it is no substitute I’m sure, but for what it’s worth, I’ll be sending out content about all the amazing things I see. Trust me when I say, you’ll want to tune in for all of this; there’s a lot of exciting things on the horizon. Whether you’re a casual player, a seasoned Commander, or a Grand Prix hopeful, there’s something for everyone here in Vegas, and I’m here to help you experience it vicariously through me.

Magic Experience

If nothing else, MagicCon is a great way to step into the world of Magic: the Gathering through cosplay, “experience” panels, and previews. I got to step into the world of Eldraine, walk around an enchanted castle hall, and even meet a few Planeswalkers. Walking the show floor is amazing, and getting to see so many other fans like myself enjoying their stay is just as gratifying.

Preview Panels

Probably the most exciting part of MagicCon is getting to see upcoming Magic products before they’re officially announced. I was able to attend a few panels where I saw the upcoming Ixalan set, some Doctor Who pieces, and of course, the next Secret Lair Superdrop. There will be a full post detailing all the exciting things I saw, but suffice to say, the next Superdrop is amazing. Without revealing too much, fans of 90s fantasy or campy horror will find plenty to spend their money on. Outside Secret Lair, the new Ixalan set will not only be bringing some powerful staples back to Standard, but unleashing some special gifts for fans of Universes Beyond. Specifically, if you like the original Jurassic Park, then the special cards from Ixalan will bring a smile to your face. There may or may not be a cameo by a certain Chaos Theorist, but I can neither confirm or deny…

Personalities

The convention is full to bursting with famous faces from all corners of the internet. Game Knights, the Asian Avenger, and BlackNeto are just a few of the big names treading the halls here in Vegas. Taking a trip over to the Creator Arena not only gives you a chance to meet your favorite personality, but also throw down in a few games (if you’re lucky). But keep your eyes open; you run into more folks just wandering around than you might expect. The best part of all is how kind all the creators are. They seem genuinely excited to meet and talk to everyone, and that’s amazing.

Free Play Area and Merch

If you want to just get some product and start slinging spells, there’s plenty of ways to do it. There’s an entire section devoted to battles, and a veritable army of attendants flagging folks down for games. Should you need to upgrade your deck, you’ll find singles and products galore on the two levels of merchants. If you need “it” this is where you’ll find it.

More Magic: The Gathering content from Las Vegas is coming — stay tuned!
