The new Rumor Engine is out and we’ve got a curious contraption on our hands. Someone is getting a wargear upgrade and it’s gonna be weird.

Is this new bottle shaped weapon a rocket or something else entirely? That’s what we’re here to find out. Personally, I think we’re looking at a new pistol…but we’ll get to my theories in a second. First, you should have a look for yourself.

“Part of it looks like a gun, but part of it also looks like a soda bottle? What manner of ballistic beverage is being deployed here?”

The Warhammer Community joke is partly true — this does look like some type of bottle strapped to a gun. However, I think there’s a better answer here: The Needler weapons.

These weapons are mostly used by assassins and made most popular by House Escher on Necromunda.

There are also heavier versions used by the Sisters of Silence. That said, the Imperium isn’t the only faction that uses these types of long-range injectable weapons.

Whatever this weapon is, it looks heavy duty on account of the underslung bipod. I’m betting this is a rifle of some type and not just a fancy pistol. Again, if it is a Needler weapon, I’m betting this is an assassin or sniper’s weapon.

The Grimdark has a lot of units that are possible fits for this gun. We’ll have to wait and see what this one turns out to be.

Meta-Narrative Update

It seems like the Rumor Engine Team is still on a bit of a break after the Warhammer Day showcase. They kind of hit the pause button on the whole “new adept working on the Rumor Engine” shtick for a bit. Perhaps we’ll see that return in a week or two.

Anyhow, if you’ve got any ideas on what this one could be drop us a line in the comments with your theories!

Needler weapon or is someone about to get shot with something a whole lot worse?
