It’s Time to Rank the Live-Action Disney+ Star Wars Shows, From Light to Dark
Now that we’ve got a few of them, it’s time to rank all the Disney+ Star Wars shows.
With five shows and a total of seven seasons of TV out, we’ve finally got a decent amount of Star Wars live-action shows. Disney+ has really been banging them out lately. We might see a bit of a slowdown for a bit because of the various strikes, but that doesn’t mean we can enjoy what we already got. So let’s take a look at the Live Action Disney+ Star Wars shows and rank them. Because there are so few are going to rank them by seasons.
7. Book Of Boba Fett
The book of Boba Fett was far and away the biggest misstep of the TV era. Simply put it just wasn’t very good. The show was poorly paced, had a lackluster plot, and just didn’t turn out well. The best episodes were ones in which the title character basically didn’t show up.
6. The Mandalorian Season 3
Season 3 of The Mandalorian really just felt like a step down from the rest of the show. The show by this point has outgrown its concept and really should be a spin-off. We didn’t get a lot of the main characters and Grogu’s being around was a real issue. A number of the plot points were just blah and the pacing wasn’t there.
5. Obi-Wan Kenobi
Kenobi was super mid-show when all was said and done. It had some big issues, but also some really great parts and performances. Its biggest problem was really that it would have worked a lot better as a movie. In fact, it was originally supposed to be that. There kind of just wasn’t enough for a longer show and so things felt dragged out. It was also straight up the worst looking of the Star Wars shows, with some horrible CGI and action. Given the cast and all the fan hype around this show, it was really sad to see it not be great.
4. Mandalorian Season 2
Season 2 of The Mandalorian really gets us into decent to good shows. This is a solid season with some good plot points and a strong focus on a central story. We have some really amazing episodes and it was great seeing a bunch of animated characters make the jump to live-action. However, the show was already showing some major issues with this season. The core idea of a Western with a bounty hunter acting on the fringes of the main story started to fall apart as major characters showed up.
3. Ahsoka
I think Ahsoka is an active good show. It looks good and has a great cast and a solid story. This is good Star Wars TV. In fact, it’s the best show to capture the Jedi part of Star Wars and really bring that aspect to live action in the Disney era. It’s also great as a continuation of the Rebels show and getting to see that story and those characters carried on. However, that’s also its greatest weakness. The show just did not spend any time filling newcomers in. If you had not watched several seasons of a nearly decade-old cartoon show you could really be lost here and just have a ton of questions.
2. Mandalorian Season 1
Season 1 of The Mandalorian is just a really good show. It introduced a new era, both in TV and Star Wars and a cast of great characters. The show pushed boundaries and delivered. It was also pretty original. It drew heavily on the Western themes in Star Wars and used them to great effect. After watching a host of movies and shows that dealt with massive stakes and the “main story” it was refreshing and fun to get more of a side story.
1. Andor
Andor is a perfect show. It’s not just a great Star Wars show, it’s a great TV show. It did everything right and is a goddamn masterpiece. The show managed to have a real point and explore oppressive regimes and how you reset them. It’s a 10 out of 10 show and nothing Disney has done with Star Wars comes even close.
