There’s no time like the present, but when you have a TARDIS, the present is a relative term.

Universes Beyond has been a contentious subject since its first incarnation. Some fans love them, while others think they dilute the lore of the Multiverse. I have always been a fan of combining my favorite properties (my Eowyn deck is one of my faves), so I love all the sets, even the silly ones like Fortnight. Well, today, another Universe has opened up across the Omenpaths, and it’s full of timey-wimey, space-bending goodness. That’s right; the Doctor has come to Magic! Taking the form of four Commander Decks, new Collector Boosters, and a pair of sinister Secret Lairs, these releases celebrate the Doctor on the year of the show’s 60th anniversary. Here’s a look at all the amazing products you can snag.

Commander Decks

The primary release is the four Commander decks, three chronicling an era of the Doctor’s history, and a fourth collecting all the show’s villains. If you’re a fan of the original series, the Bant “Blast From the Past” deck explores the adventures of the First through the Eight Doctor. Perhaps you’re a more recent Whovian, and the Jeskai “Timey-Wimey” might be the one for you, covering the exploits of Nine, Ten, and Eleven, as well as their companions. If the newest series is more your speed, the Temur “Paradox Power” deck captures the chaos of the most recent two Doctors. Of course, every good hero needs a foil. If that sounds more your speed, the Grixis “Masters of Evil” deck brings together the Doctor’s worst foes. Each deck features glorious reprints and some brand-new cards. If you want the most out of the release, these are the buy for you.

Collector Boosters

While the Commander decks are the primary release, players who want a little extra bling can pick up the Doctor Who Collector Boosters. These packs will contain alternate art, full art, and special treatment editions of some of the cards contained in the four decks. Note: there are NO unique cards in the boosters, so anything available in the boosters can be acquired in the deck. The boosters are just for players who want a little something special.

Secret Lair Drops

If you just want a little Whovian splash, there are a pair of sinister drops in the Secret Lair Spookdrop. The Weeping Angels set gives a terrifying treatment to some iconic Angels, like Sublime Archangel and Angel of Serenity. If you’d rather EXTERMINATE your opponents, the Dalek Lands drop gives some of the dual lands a slightly mechanized treatment. These are available until November 20th, 2023, so snag them while you can!
