Star Wars: Shatterpoint – New Missions With ‘Sabotage Showdown’
Atomic Mass Games is talking shop about the upcoming Missions Pack for Star Wars: Shatterpoint – Sabotage Showdown.
If you’ve been playing Star Wars: Shatterpoint and were looking for some new ways to take on your opponents then buckle-up. Sabotage Showdown is on the way and this mission pack is changing things up.
“Sabotage Showdown throws players into a much tighter battle that is reminiscent of the battles we see fought amid a starcrusier’s reactor room, within the confines of a starship hanger, or around an enemy artillery emplacement. In addition to navigating the closer quarters and how that will impact the Units in their Strike Force, Sabotage Showdown also throws a new tactical layer on top of players Shatterpoint activations. Each Struggle card has a special Tactics ability listed beneath the Active Objective map. When a player chooses to activate a Unit with their Shatterpoint card, the chosen Unit gains the listed Tactic ability until the end of the turn.”
Sabotage Showdown – New Missions Ahead
One of the big goals for these mission packs has been to ramp-up the game play options — but in a measured way. Sabotage Showdown is the second of three missions packs that have been designed with the initial launch and wave of squad packs coming. Each of these mission packs was created to play off these squads and core concepts in a way that builds on themselves. Atomic Mass Games intentionally spaced out these releases to allow for players to learn and experience the game in this way without getting overwhelmed.
Personally, I think this is just smart design! It’s not as overwhelming and it allows for people to fully grasp these concepts and then get to the “new stuff” within a reasonable timeline. Hopefully, Atomic Mass Games continues to expand the game with this philosophy in mind. And I think they are proving that’s what they want to do.
As for the missions themselves, there’s quite a few layouts to battle over. Additionally, the tactic card is a game changer, too. The extra Dash, Force refresh, or healing can really change the board states for both players. Adapting to this tactic is going to be a fun challenge for sure!
