Thanksgiving & Christmas Horror Movies are Here… Already
Like retailers everywhere, horror itself is now jumping over Halloween to announce Thanksgiving and Christmas movies.
For years, retailers have started putting out Christmas products in September, leap-frogging over Halloween. This year, we’ve got horror movies doing the same. How dare they!? False outrage aside, these horrors about other holidays have something to offer fans: mask-wearing killers, blood spatter, gore that’ll make you wince, and town-saving teenagers.
Thanksgiving
First up is a new gore fest with a killer pilgrim from Eli Roth. The cast includes Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, Milo Manheim, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Nell Verlaque, Rick Hoffman, and Gina Gershon.
A capotain-wearing killer is terrorizing Plymouth, Massachusetts–the birthplace of the holiday–after a Black Friday riot ends in devastation. His sinister holiday plan includes picking off residents one by one. Can the town’s residents find the killer’s identity, or will they become guests at his twisted version of a Thanksgiving table?
It hits theaters the weekend ahead of the holiday, on November 17th.
It’s a Wonderful Knife
This slasher is from director Tyler MacIntyre (Tragedy Girls) and writer Michael Kennedy (Freaky). It’s Frank Capra’s unintentional holiday classic about suicide and redemption mixed with classic slashers. Jane Widdop, Jess McLeod, Joel McHale, Katharine Isabelle, William B. Davis, and Justin Long star.
A year ago, Winnie Carruthers saved her town from a psychotic killer on Christmas Eve. Her life after becoming a hero wasn’t that great, however. She finds herself questioning her existence and lands in a nightmare parallel universe where things are much worse without her. The killer is back, and she has to track down the killer in order to get back to the reality where she lives.
It’s a Wonderful Knife arrives in limited theaters before the Christmas holiday season on November 10th. It will make its way to Shudder after.
