‘WarBonds: Battle for Vitoria’ Master Mode Packs In Even More High-Fantasy Strategy
If the Apprentice Rules version of WarBonds: Battle for Vitoria left you wanting more, the Master Rules version might be just for you.
Yesterday, we took a look at WarBonds: Battle for Vitoria Apprentice Rules. If you missed that, you’ll want to give that a read before diving into this one. Because WarBonds isn’t just a single game. It’s two games with two sets of rules.
Granted, the core mechanics remain the same, but with brand new elite units, neutral settlements to exploit, and new glittering prizes to be won, the master rules version of WarBonds is the ultimate high-fantasy strategy board game.
What’s New With WarBonds: Battle for Vitoria Master Rules?
When I say that WarBonds: Battle for Vitoria Master Rules edition adds a lot of new content, I’m not kidding around. Check out the component list for both games and see for yourself just how much Master Mode adds.
That’s over 700 additional components!
This includes expanding existing mechanics, like new terrain features but also adds brand new mechanics and components as well. Perhaps most exciting of all are the new elite units.
Elite units are souped up and more powerful than your basic units from the Apprentice Rules. They ass a ton of power to your army, but come at a cost. Literally. These new elite units have an upkeep cost of gold, another new addition.
Gold is best acquired from the neutral settlements that dot the map in Master Mode. Warlords are able to place these settlements under their protection in order to earn gold per turn. They, of course, are mostly protecting these settlements from the other warlords who would pillage the settlement and just take whatever gold they have lying around. That’s just skipping the middleman as far as my Chaotic Evil ass is concerned.
