Warhammer 40K: 5 Predictions For Warhammer Day
Warhammer Day is this weekend and we want spicy reveals. That said here’s a few predictions we hope come true for Warhammer 40,000!
If you missed it or forgot this is a friendly reminder that Warhammer Day is this weekend, October the 14th. GW has promised some “juicy new reveals” coming and we’ve got list of things we want to see. So let’s talk about some of those Warhammer 40,000 specifics we hope come true.
Warhammer Day Predictions
Let’s start off with the easy stuff / highest probability to show up. And then we’ll get a little crazy at the end. First up, we know what books are coming. And other than their release timeframe, we’ve heard virtually nothing about them…
Codex Adeptus Mechanicus Reveals
Again, we’re playing it safe with this one. With the Space Marines on deck we know the Adeptus Mechanicus is next. Hopefully we’ll get a look at their new codex (at least the full cover) and hopefully some rules teasers. However, I’m most excited to see what vehicles/units GW has in store for them.
Part of me really hopes we see GW lean on the Electro-Priest side of releases this time around. We’ve seen lots of cool vehicles from the Ad Mech but this sub-faction really only has two units. I want to see them expanded a bit with maybe a character or two and perhaps a couple new units to help fill out the Electro-Priest brotherhood.
Hopefully the Ad Mech reveals will be something to look forward to!
Necron Re-Awaken!
The Necrons already got a pretty big revamp not sooooo long ago. I don’t expect them to get a TON of new units. However, much like the Ad Mech, I think we might get a look at their codex cover and maybe a new unit or two.
What I’m really hoping for is a revamp of one of these classic Necron characters. That would be a nice update for sure! With their core range really filled out I’m not sure exactly where GW could go in terms of new units but I’m sure they could surprise us.
Ad Mech vs Necron Boxed Set
Sooooo this might have been done before. However, I could easily see GW doing something like this again. Especially with their release windows both in the Winter. I’m not sure if a full on launch box treatment is in order on the scale of Leviathan (although that would be cool). However, the Ad Mech and Necrons are such a great pairing. Both of them worship their machine gods (in a manner of speaking) and I’m sure they each have technology that the other is after. Will we see a Forgebane 2.0? Maybe! But a new boxed set is the perfect launch vehicle for new characters as we’ve seen in the past.
Holiday Bundles Announced
It might be early still but I could see GW at least announcing what Battleforces are coming later this year — they might not show them all off, but dropping some hints would be nice. That said, this one is a long shot simply because they wouldn’t show up until December so there’s still time to get there. But it would be nice to know what’s coming so folks could start budgeting for the box they want this year now.
Intermission
Before we get to the final one I want to take a moment to preface this one. Saturday will be the 40th anniversary of Warhammer, right? That’s a BIG deal. Not just for fans but also for a wargame and a freaking company. Games Workshop should be proud their game and brand have stuck around for this long! That’s quite a run and a heck of an accomplishment. So congrats to them!
So, with that out of the way, how would you celebrate your 40th anniversary/birthday if you were Warhammer 40,000? I know what I’d do. I’d release a model kit that no one ever thought we’d make. Something so bonkers that the fans would lose their mind. And when it comes to 40k, there’s really only one kit I can think of that I NEVER thought I’d see in a million years…
The Emperor Of Mankind
How freaking epic would that be?! Wait…no, that’s not right. That’s the Emperor during the height of his power — during the Horus Heresy. And honestly, I’m just waiting for that to be the reveal for the character series at some point. No, I mean the current version of the Emperor!
Yeah. That’s the one. Hey, I did say this was a kit I’d never expect to see in a million years! If GW did release a kit for the Emperor of Mankind on the Golden Throne fans would lose it. The reaction would absolutely be nuts. It’s really either the Emperor or a Warlord Titan for 40k scale — which also will never happen. Go ahead GW, I DARE you.
