Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is finally back with some major updates with Patch #13 out now. Load-up your squad and get ready to rumble!

When Fatshark initially released Darktide, it was fun but also didn’t seem to have to depth that players were looking for. While the core concept was fun (it’s a class-based FPS game where four players attempt to complete various missions in a PvE setup) it also had some issues. The players gave a lot of feedback and Fatshark listened. Since launch, there’s been a TON of updates and improvements.

One example was the implementation of crossplay with Patch #11 back in June. And now, we’re at Patch #13 which has dropped a slew of improvements and QoL updates.

We’ve covered a few of the class overhauls before with the Veteran, Zealot, and Psyker. These updates really do change up the classes in new and exciting ways. If you’re curious about the changes there’s also a very detailed Dev Blog that goes over them in much greater detail.

With all these changes and also the fact that crossplay has been implemented means that it’s time to give this one another go. If you’re like me and you played during the launch, had some fun, but ultimately bounced off now is the perfect time to fire it back up. The class reworks alone really have added a lot to the gameplay.

Personally, I’m a little torn about these updates — but not because they are bad. I’m conflicted because I kind of wish this was the game we got at launch and not almost a year after launch. While it’s kind of a bummer we players had to be the guinea pigs to try things out there is some silver lining in that the Game Devs listened to a lot of the player feedback. In some ways that’s the nature of the “live service” game model now.

Regardless, Darktide is still a fun to play now. And if you already purchased the game back at launch then you’re getting all these patches free anyhow. Why not fire it back up and crush some Chaos Cultists!? It’s even more fun with crossplay friends!

Time to roll out, Rejects!
