It’s a big release weekend for Cities of Sigmar next weekend. The Mortal Realms are full of guns, swords, and shields, so are these minis.

Life in the Mortal Realms is a strange one. On the one hand you have undead/constantly reborn champions. On the other hand, you have just regular undead. And on yet another hand you have fire dwarves and sky dwarves, not to mention just about every flavor of elves—including seafood elves.

But what about the regular people? Arguably there aren’t any. Because eve the miniatures and units included in Battletome: Cities of Sigmar are all fantastical warriors and sharpshooters. And you’ll get to see all of those this coming week!

Cities of Sigmar – A Gun Or Sword For Everyone

It all starts with the Battletome for Cities of Sigmar. In it, all the rules you need to play this army, alongside a hefty help of lore, painting guides, and more. And accompanying this book, a whole host of new minis, ready to bring a touch of humanity to the Mortal Realms.

Starting with Tahlia Vedra, Lioness of the Parch. She rides a manticore, and brings inspiration to all who fight near her.

If you prefer a more backline leader, there’s Pontifex Zenestra, who shouts sermons of Sigmar across the battlefield.

While the Freeguild Cavalier-Marshal leads Freeguild Cavaliers (or whomever else) into daring charges riding just a regular horse. Which is a feat in the Mortal Realms.

Speaking of the Freeguilds, forget not the Relic Envoy and on foot Marshal. They come with plenty of options for supporting/leading your troops on the field.

Or if you want a whole command corps, there’s the Freeguild Command Corps, whose Arch-Knight, Great Herald, Whisperblade, War Surgeon, Soul Sheperd, and Gargoylian friend, brings a ton of specialized characters to your army.

Outfit your army with the Alchemite Warforger, who draws upon “Chamonic energy” to turn regular weapons into fiery ones, or to magically reinforce armor and shields.

Finally, one of the most Age of Sigmar models to ever hit shelves: the Fusil-Major atop Ogor Warhulk. It’s a sniper riding on top an Ogor with shield and club. Is it impractical? Of course! Does that make it any less hilariously awesome? Sure doesn’t!

The Freeguild Cavaliers seem much more tame, in comparison.

As do the Freeguild Fusiliers, who have heavy pavises with chains that, presumably do…something?

Then we get into the meat and potatoes fantasy dudes with the Freeguild Steelhelms. They’re described as “humble men and women” which probably means they’ll just absolutely die in droves when they go up against Orruks and Daemons and worse. But won’t they be heroic as they die.

Finally the Ironweld Great Cannon, which can fire cannonballs, shells, and grapeshot.

All this, next week!
