Age of Sigmar: Flesh-eater Courts ‘Abhorrant Gorewarden’ Will Lock You Up
The Flesh-eater Courts are coming and there’s a new character to help patrol the lands. Behold the Abhorrant Gorewarden and his winged fury!
Well this should help clear up any questions about that “feast” we were all invited to. If you were thinking it was the Flesh-eater Courts teaser then you were correct. How do we know? Because Warhammer Community just showed off a new seneschal of the Summerking. The Abhorrant Gorewardens are coming to play.
This crucial duty is bestowed with great honour upon the Summerking’s most mighty and chivalrous kinsfolk, who are granted the distinguished title of Abhorrant Gorewarden for their stalwart defence of the realm. Stationed in great redoubts at strategic points across the lands, these determined marcher lords are sworn to protect the boundaries of their liege’s kingdom at all costs.
Abhorrant Gorewarden
This is a pretty gnarly looking character for the Flesh-eater Courts. It’s also fun to see the way that it’s described by WarCom. The language used is very much a nod to the fact that these Undead creatures still see themselves as the nobles the were in life. The Gorewardens act very much like road wardens who patrol the lands — except they have some cruel methods to deal with interlopers.
It’s also worth noting some of the finer details of the model. Aside from the wings and collar of bones, they have the a few sets of keys. These are symbolic in nature as they represent the “keys to the kingdom” and are a sign of their authority over their territory.
Personally, I’m hoping this is just the start of the Flesh-eater Court reveals. I think that they are one of the hidden gems in the Age of Sigmar lore as their backstory of being fallen noble houses could create some really interesting options to play with. Undead Ghoul-kings and courts is a really twisted take and a unique angle for GW to tackle. Hopefully they’ll expand this army with even more great models!
