D&D: ‘Baldur’s Gate 3’ Heads To Japan, But Leaves Spicy Content Behind
Baldur’s Gate 3 will soon release in Japan. But when it does, it’ll be missing a lot of explicit content.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is a game so horny that the developers had to actually go back in and tone things down a little bit. It’s the kind of game you spend seven hours just trying to get your character looking right before you actually get in there and play. And that’s before you’re embroiled in sexy love triangles and more.
Though some of that will be missing when the game launches in Japan on December 21st. Spike Chunsoft, the publishers of the Baldur’s Gate 3 in Japan, announced earlier that they will be removing explicit content from the Japanese version, making sure it is in compliance with the CERO Code of Ethics.
Baldur’s Gate 3 – Leaving Nudity Behind
What does that mean, exactly? Per Spike Chunsoft’s announcement, it just means that all the explicit content options in the settings will be permanently toggled to off. These options include:
- displaying nudity in cutscenes
- toggling genitals on or off
- enabling sex scenes
And all of these can be toggled on or off in the other releases of the game. But if you’re playing the Japanese release, you’ll not be able to turn them on. Alongside these changes, Spike Chunsoft said that their release will remove the choice for players to torture certain NPCs during Act I.
All these changes are comparatively tame. Many games that release in Japan are censored, including Grand Theft Auto V, Cyberpunk 2077, and Crash Bandicoot. If you’re wondering about that last one, they made Crash look less aggressive. And also he doesn’t get hit on the head as many times when you miss the treasure chests in a stage.
At any rate, Baldur’s Gate 3 is set to release in Japan on December 21st. Bringing with it the breadth and depth that gamers the world over have been enjoying.
