D&D: ‘Deck of Many Things’ Delayed Again — Pushed to 2024
WotC announced a new release date for The Deck of Many Things, the card and book set delayed earlier this year for manufacturing defects.
Almost a month after announcing that the physical release of The Deck of Many Things would be delayed, owing to a series of manufacturing defects in the cards themselves, WotC has come out with a new round of The Deck of Many Things, saying that players can expect to find them in early 2024.
Real early, in fact. In a statement on D&D Beyond, WotC set the release date for January 5th, at least for the North American release. Other regions will see a slightly later release. But, it seems like WotC has, for now, sorted out the issues with The Deck of Many Things.
The Deck of Many Things Pushed to January 5th 2024
On October 27, we announced a delay in the shipment of The Deck of Many Things set due to the product not meeting our manufacturing standards. We’re excited to announce that production on a new round of The Deck of Many Things sets has begun.
For U.S. players and stores, we expect The Deck of Many Things set to be in hand starting January 5. EMEA and APAC will see shipments a little later than this; we will update you further when we can share a more exact timeline. If production runs into issues that cause further delays, we will provide additional updates as soon as possible.
If you’re wondering what exactly “not meeting our manufacturing standards” means, in a nutshell, that the deck of cards in the gift set, theoretically the main reason you’d buy the box, had all sorts of problems. The cards were warped and couldn’t lie flat on each other.
Others had issues with the artwork being centered on the cards. All around, the deck of cards wasn’t what you’d expect from a company that defined the term “collectible card game.”
There were a few other issues with the physical set. In the first run of the accompanying Book of Many Things, there are a few missed edits; an item called Blasted Goggles makes reference to an attack roll that the item doesn’t require you to make. This has already been quickly and quietly fixed on D&D Beyond, again, without an official errata released.
But, no word on whether the issue will be corrected for the new release of The Deck of Many Things as of yet.
Look for ‘The Deck of Many Things’ in January!
