It’s time for the new Horus Heresy MKIII Marines to get some Alpha Legion attention this Hobby Highlight!

Today I am showing a few of the new Legion MKIII Marines for Horus Heresy.

These are actually the second version of MKIII plastic Tactical Marines, and these ones are slightly larger to be in scale with the Age of Darkness Mk.VI minis. Designwise they share many elements of the classic design, although the helmet is quite a divergence to what we had previously. I will be building up a nice Veteran Tactical Squad for my Alpha Legion using the kit.

Mk.III Marines Assemble!

This kit is very easy to put together and track parts during assembly, like any Space Marines. They follow the Mk.IVs plan of having half the torso pre-attached to the legs, which is common in more modern Marines. Like most Heresy kits, the squad members themselves only come with Bolters, while Heavy and Special weapons come in auxiliary kits.

My only complaint overall is a lack of a Bolt Pistol for the Sergeant. He has the options for a Powerfist/Lightning Claw, Power Sword, and Plasma Pistol- but I don’t necessarily want that expensive upgrade, so having to source the basic equipment is a little annoying.

Alpha Legion Paint Scheme

I prefer an uncoventional turquoise color scheme for my Loyalist Heresy Alpha Legion over the “official” scheme. This scheme focuses around turqoise, black sections, bronze, and free hand white Legion symbols, hydras/snakes, squares, and checkers. There are quite a few users of this Ghost Legion scheme out there in the world
