‘Madame Web’ First Trailer – Get Trapped in the Spider-Verse’s Web of Mysteries

Madame Web takes the Spider-Verse into live action with five new spidey characters – including a villainous Ezekiel Sims.

Artist John Romita Jr. and writer Denny O’Neil created Madame Web, also known as Cassandra Webb. She first appeared in first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #210 in 1980.

In the comics, she has a neuromuscular disease that requires her to rely on a life support system shaped like a giant spider web. They assist in amplifying her pre-cognitive abilities. She has utilized them to assist Spider-Man in various ways over the years. Madame Web has also been featured in video games and animated series set in the Spider-Verse.

The movie features a mix of Cassandra and the second incarnation of Madame Webb – Julia Carpenter. After unknowingly receiving an experimental mixture of spider venom and plant extracts, she acquired spider powers. She started her superhero career as the second Spider-Woman.

The movie’s first trailer reveals that the big screen version of Cassandra is a psychic who can see the future and gains her powers after a near-death experience. She discovers she can access The Great Web, which connects all spider characters together across the multiverse. The ability puts her on a villain’s radar. A villain connected to one of the more controversial comic plots in spidey history.

Madame Web Cast & Details

Dakota Johnson stars as the titular Spider-Man character. Joining her are Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria), Celeste O’Connor (Ghostbusters: Afterlife), Isabela Merced (Transformers: The Last Knight), and Emma Roberts (American Horror Story), along with Tahar Rahim (The Mauritanian), Mike Epps (The Upshaws), and Adam Scott (Severance). SJ Clarkson, who directed several episodes of Jessica Jones and The Defenders for Netflix, directs the movie.

“In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines. The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures… if they can all survive a deadly present.”

Madame Web hits theaters on February 14th.
