Warhammer 40K: New Adeptus Mechanicus Detachment Rules
The Adeptus Mechanicus are getting their new Codex and that means they will have a total of five Detachments available.
Within each of the five Detachments of the Adeptus Mechanicus you’ll find four Enhancements and six different Stratagems to augment the army’s playstyle. Learn them and soon you’ll be able to command your forces like the well oiled machines that they truly are! Thankfully, GW is previewing a few of them so you can get started learning them today.
“Although the Adeptus Mechanicus have collective millennia of military data to access when preparing their thralls for combat, the whims of individual Tech-Priests result in wildly varied battle plans. Many favour disciplined Skitarii legions, while others surround themselves with fanatical disciples, or trust only in the divine mechanical purity of their robots. In the new Codex: Adeptus Mechanicus, you’ll have plenty of methods to pick from.”
Adeptus Mechanicus Detachments
To kick things off we have the first Detachment we’re previewing: Explorator Maniples. If you’re looking to play the objective game then this Detachment does that fairly well with a bonus for being in range of an Acquisition objective marker.
Re-rolling wound rolls of 1 is handy boost to ensure your weapons are functioning properly. On top of that, the Genetor can snag a nice boost to their own survivability when in range, too. So how about their stratagems?
An out-of-sequence embark move could be pretty handy for getting a squad out of a bad spot. And Cached Acquisition lets the Adeptus Mechanicus snag an objective beyond the unit’s death which is also a nice trick.
Overall, this one isn’t bad! Up next is the one for all the robot fans: Cohort Cybernetica.
Just for further context you should know the Cyber-psalm Programming is back.
“Advanced Cyber-psalm Programming provides a simple but effective Detachment bonus, giving LEGIO CYBERNETICA units access to your Doctrina Imperatives army rule. This returns unchanged from the faction’s Index, allowing you to make your robots tougher and more accurate when defending, or deadlier and more agile on the attack.”
Now, how about a Stratagems, eh? Auto-Divinatory Targeting essentially gives a unit the Ignores Cover ability and also locks their BS in a 3+ for the round:
If you’re planning on playing with the Kastelan Robots then this is clearly the option for you. That said, these are unfortunately the only reveals we’ve gotten from GW so far for the Ad Mech. Hopefully we’ll get more info as we get closer to the Codex release.
Little light on the reveals for the Ad Mech…but looks promising so far.
