‘House of the Dragon’ Season 2 Promises Blood for Blood in First Trailer
A devastating civil war begins in the first fiery House of the Dragon Season 2 trailer.
Season One ended with a tragic death that started the Dance of Dragons, the Targaryen civil war. The next season will detail the fractured family of Greens and Blacks as they fight for supremacy on the battlefield and with manipulative schemes. The writers have confirmed that the gruesome actions of Blood and Cheese will be showing up.
This season will also bring in new dragons – as seen in this fire trailer that sets up an epic season of revenge-fueled battles and treachery.
Unlike many shows, House of the Dragon didn’t shut down production during the strikes. Their contract was through a UK union, so they were able to film through this summer and keep the show’s initial release window. That means more Targaryen drama this upcoming summer.
This season will consist of eight episodes rather than the usual ten, though. Last year HBO Max content CEO Casey Bloy said that they’re focusing on story rather than speed.
“My philosophy is a good script is number one priority. I am not doing it based on wanting to have one a year, two a year. I want to do it based on the scripts that we’re excited about.”
Two fewer episodes feel like either it will be crunched, or they’re going to extend the run a couple of extra seasons to make up for lack of time per season. Two hours is a lot of time in television. We’ll have to see when the show premieres.
House of the Dragon Season 2 Cast
The key players who got out of Season One alive is returning, including Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, and Olivia Cooke. They’ll be joined by Simon Russell Beale as Ser Simon Strong, Freddie Fox as Ser Gwayne Hightower, Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers, and Abubakar Salim as Alyn of Hull.
House of the Dragon Season 2 premieres next summer.
