Warhammer 40K: Hobby Highlight – Painting a Hekaton Land Fortress
It’s time to paint up a Hekaton Land Fortress for the Leagues of Votann in this week’s 40K Hobby Highlight!
Today I am showing how to paint a Leagues of Votann Hekaton Land Fortress for Warhammer 40K.
The gigantic kit is the signature vehicle of the Leagues of Votann, meant to evoke the Land Trains of ancient Squat heritage. This Votann force from the Greater Thurian League is themed, taking the fight to an ice world of some sort, and this giant vehicle is meant to hide amongst the gargantuan snow banks. For variation, I used a lot of chipped paint and bright, vibrant colors for all the lens’ and sensors.
Hekaton Land Fortress Paint Scheme
I went with a basic ice or snow camouflage color scheme for the Hekaton Land Fortress, with liberal use of highly chipped paint, all the way down to the metal. I used snow effect on the black rubber wheels to match the snow bases of the rest of the army, despite the Fortress not having a base itself. This really tied things together in the force and made sure the Hekaton didn’t look too clean next to his frosty buddies. Lens’ and sensors all got bright yellow or red, which pops against the stark white.
