Age of Sigmar: ‘Metawatch’ Hints When Next Battlescroll Update Will Arrive
With LVO 2024 over Games Workshop is taking a hard look at the data to make some tweaks to Age of Sigmar. Battlescroll update is coming soon.
There’s a new Metawatch out and it’s taking a closer look at the results of the Las Vegas Open 2024 as well as an overall look at the meta of Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. There’s some good news for everyone as we’ve also got a bit of a tease on when the next Battlescroll Update will be coming to the game.
AoS Meta Is Healthy
“The sheer variety of lists appearing on the top tables is clear evidence of the Warhammer Age of Sigmar community’s ingenuity, and will no doubt be wildly different from the next major tournaments to come. “
While we don’t have new win-rate data direct from GW, we know that the last round had tightened those outliers quite a bit. It’s also a credit to the overwall community with how they managed to fit in nine factions into the top 10 with only the Cities of Sigmar doubling up. There’s some very talented players out there who bring some oddball stuff and do rather well!
Right now, in this snapshot in time, the Cities of Sigmar are doing quite well. As mentioned above they did get two lists in the top 10 at the end of the tournament. They managed to place first and second as well. You can view the lists on WarCom but what I find interesting is how very different they both are.
One list focused on Freeguild and was more unit heavy with some big characters for support. The other had a huge focus on Steam Tanks!
The fact that there’s more than one good build for the Cites of Sigmar is a good sign. There’s also a slight warning flag that the Alchemite Warforger might be due for a points adjustment in the near future.
New Battlescroll Update?
“And finally, we know you’re all keen to get a proper update from the next Battlescroll – from what we’ve heard it’s coming soon – potentially at some point next month – as the Warhammer Age of Sigmar team are working hard on final adjustments based on what they saw at LVO.”
Considering that “next month” is literally only days away this one might be here quicker than you think. Hopefully GW won’t keep us waiting for too much longer. That said, I do think it’s a good idea to wait to make adjustments until after a massive tournament like LVO happens.
That gives them a really good data set to balance off of. Additionally, it’s a much better time to make adjustments as opposed to right before a major. Few things are worse than finding out your army is suddenly invalidated a week or two before you were going to a massive tournament like LVO.
I’m curious to see what tweaks GW is going to make to the game next month. Personally, I’d like a surprise GHB but I know there’s still months left in the current GHB’s lifespan.
What changes are you hoping to see in the next Battlescroll Update?
