D&D Accessories: New Year, New You(r Game)
The new year is a good excuse to make little changes to make your game, and these tools will add a little something to your adventure.
The new year is a perfect excuse to mix things up a little in you’re life. Whether it’s a new resolution, or a new style, if you’re looking to make some changes, now is the time. And if you’re just looking for small changes, we can start with little ways to make your D&D experience a little more unique and a little more dynamic.
1. The Ultimate RPG Guide Box Set
I personally have one or two of these books, and can attest to them bringing a new and pretty fun take on game-building to the table. James D’Amato is an expert in tabletop RPGs and DMing with a background in improv. And with a bunch of fun questions, advice, and world-building activities, he helps you make your game feel a little more real, fleshed out, and big. Sometimes it’s fun to have a character with a two-sentence backstory, or a world that you build as the game progresses. But sometimes it’s helpful to have everything ready to go from the top, and these guides will help you figure it all out with questions you may not have thought to ask on your own.
2. Pop-o-Matic Dice Roller
Is this the most practical thing you could add to your D&D nights? I mean, probably not. But it’s still pretty darn fun and nostalgic. Whether it’s automatic, electronic, or a simple tower, we’ve all heard or (and probably use) some variety of the regular dice roller. But this pop-o-matic dice popper will roll your dice in a way that will make you think your characters are in Trouble. Get it? Like the board game Trouble? I’ll be here all week, and so will your new favorite dice roller/popper.
3. Strahd Revamped
If your party is doing a great job of adventuring already, but maybe this year needs a little more pageantry this is for you. Personally, I love when a game has physical things that I can look at and hold, it’s part of why physical Decks of Many Things are such a fun addition. And the Curse of Strahd Revamped set will add just a little bit of that to your next adventure with a map, handouts for players, physical Tarokka cards, and postcards.
4. GM’s Book of Traps, Puzzles, & Dungeons
Some DMs are very good at coming excitings of exciting puzzles and dungeons for their players. Some of us have a hard time with it. But with this book, we won’t have to worry fun adventurers that are fun for players. Included are sixty puzzles, traps, and fifty dungeon chambers, each with its own possible encounters. Focus on your story and the RPG aspects of your game, because this book has the technical stuff covered.
5. Coloring Adventures
I’m not sure if adult coloring books are still having a moment, but I do know that with a toddler, I’ve been doing a lot of coloring. And moment or not, it’s still fun. So why not color your way through some D&D adventures full of Beholders, Trolls, Goblins, and Mimics?
Will you make any minor changes to your D&D game in the new year? Did any of our picks make it into your shopping cart? Do you have a new years resolution you’d like to share? Let us know in the comments!
Happy Adventuring!
Oh hey! BoLS might make a little extra cash if you decide to buy these items. We need that money to add to the hoard of the dragon that lives in our basement.
