Elden Ring Gets an Unexpected Update But It Isn’t the DLC News Fans Hope For
A new patch just hit for Elden Ring, but no, it has nothing to do with the hotly anticipated Shadows of the Erdtree DLC.
Elden Ring got an unexpected update today. The first in several months. Though the new patch does make the game better—the latest update improves the anti-cheat software, so PVPers and online players will have a much better time—it seems there’s only one thing the Elden Ring community wants, and it’s news about the upcoming DLC.
Yes, Elden Ring can’t announce anything without the community looking for signs, searching through SteamDB changes and Tweets like some haruspex trying to divine the future from entrails. But, sadly for them, no news is on the horizon as of yet. And the patch contains little that might herald the DLC’s imminence.
In fact, it contains little at all.
Elden Ring – New Patch, Single Note
The entirety of the patch can be summed up in a single sentence: “Easy Anti-Cheat update to support the Steam OS update.”
It’s so small a patch, they could have just included the full note in the announcement tweet:
ELDEN RING update 1.10.1 is now available.

Instead, Bandai Namco directs users to its site to discover the full scope of the tiny patch. And while this is a comical situation, it also gave fans the opportunity to do what they do best and demand more information from a hapless social media person, who likely knows as much about the subject in question as the users do.
Which is to say, not very much.
But players have been absolutely hungry for more Elden Ring content. Since its 2022 release, the Elden Ring community has accomplished some truly remarkable feats, including beating the game with a steering wheel, dance pads, bananas, and even a harp.
The game has gone from controller-breaking obstacles to wacky challenges. And untold billions of albinaurics have been slaughtered for their precious runes.
The community is eager to learn more, especially since details about the expansion are few and far between. Right now they amount to, something about Miquella, probably? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
At any rate, if you’re ready for PvP or to risk being invaded online, you will run less risk of cheaters ruining your day.
It’ll just be someone who’s gotten good at the game.
