Goatboy’s Grimdark Armylist: Space Goats(Wolves) Terminator Shock Assault!
The Space Goats are back with a Terminator-heavy list that brings Shock and Awe! You can use both Thunderwolves, and those nice new Terminator models that came out!
I like the new 10th Edition Terminators enough that the thought of throwing goat heads on them, some fur, and then adding a ton of nonsense to their models is… something that interests me (don’t judge). We’ll see if I end up doing it these next few months. But I thought – let’s write up an army list and see if I could make them work.
Space Goats Love the Stormlance Detachment
Welcome to the Thunder Dome and how much I love the Space Marine Stormlance Detachment. I just like how you can create a bunch of aggressive assault armies out of this with Advance and charge options. It just feels like something that could put in some work, throw in some pressure, and might be something good for a team-based environment. I think it would have some trouble in bigger events. But 30 Terminators running around and making goat sounds might be ok?
The thought here is building three similar Terminator blobs and just seeing what works if I end up testing it. It has some shooting that isn’t that great, but it could do some damage at range. The Terminator Space Goats would rather get mixed in and punch stuff – but that is what brings me joy in life and probably something I would build towards. I also didn’t try to add in Logan either as while it is technically a “Space Wolf” army I would rather have all non-named characters to ensure I don’t have to answer the question – “yes that heavily bearded goat-looking dude is Logan.”

Using the Terminator Space Goats
I did have to add in one Thunder Wolf unit with the idea to throw them in reserves and come out on the side earlier than normal. It could be a good way to have a bit of side pressure that the army lacks as the Terminators move forward and take the center. I do wonder if I need some of those Lieutenants who have Lone Op, but this again is a simple army idea to throw out and build towards. Plus, it would let me paint up a ton of red-looking terminators with Goat heads. A reward in and of itself!

Now, of course, when the Dark Angels come out, I might look at the Deathwing, but for right now, Space Wolves just feel more goat-like. It is probably just from the old days of thundering in Juggernaut Goats and my desire to punch things for the true space goat daddy – Goatboy.
