Palworld is a game that, against all odds, is actually out in early access today. Now, you too can arm up your favorite collectible monsters and make them fight.

Palworld, if you somehow haven’t seen the various trailers and memes yet, is basically Pokemon but with guns. No really. Just go look at the trailer, and you’ll see exactly what I mean. It’s also, conveniently enough, out in early access today. You can download and play it right now.

Not sold on and/or confused by what Pokemon but with guns means? Well, you see, imagine monsters that range from cute and cuddly to extremely powerful to weirdly sexualized and not the ones you’d think. Good. Now imagine that instead of just making them fight by themselves, you grab up your assault rifle, bazooka, or whatever it is you prefer and get to shooting mons.

And you’ve basically got Palworld.

Palworld is So Much More than Pokemon, But With Guns

… but it’s also extremely that.

Palworld is a game where you play as someone who is going on an adventure in a world full of magical creatures known as Pals. You can capture them by throwing special balls, known as Pal Spheres, at them when they’re in a weakened state. Once you have your own Pal, you can take on the world. Because a Pal isn’t just a fighting monster. They can serve as mounts and battle platforms or even help you build your own base and dominate the realm. No really.

You can even, if the need arises, eat them. A fact which the developers go out of their way to remind you in two different segments of their copy:

In this game, you can peacefully live alongside mysterious creatures known as Pals or risk your life to drive off a ruthless poaching syndicate. Pals can be used to fight, or they can be made to work on farms or factories. You can even sell them or eat them!

In a harsh environment where food is scarce and vicious poachers roam, danger waits around every corner. To survive, you must tread carefully and make difficult choices…even if that means eating your own Pals when the time comes.

Check out Palworld on Steam today!
