The ‘Boyfriend Dungeon’ TTRPG brings Dungeons & Dating to DriveThruRPG
Boyfriend Dungeon, the dungeon-crawling dating sim, brings its bae blades to a tabletop near you, launching on DriveThruRPG today! Late last year, developer Kitfox Games announced a new tabletop RPG adaptation of their indie hit dungeon crawler/dating sim Boyfriend Dungeon. If you somehow never played it, this was a game where you could date your weapons, because they were also people who just happened to have the ability to transform and be “wielded.” Well today, Boyfriend Dungeon arrived on DriveThruRPG, making it easier than ever to jump into the game. Now you too can get into the dungeon and then kiss. Or you can kiss after you’ve finished your delve. It’s up to you.
Boyfriend Dungeon TTRPG Coming in December
The cult classic shack-and-slash, in an all-new format. Boyfriend Dungeon: Life On the Edge is a tabletop roleplaying game that lets up to 4 players (plus their Master of Ceremonies) explore their inner psyche, confront their fears, and also smooch swords! Roleplay as your favorite lasersaber or make up your own weapon-person. Wield your friends, defeat your enemies, and level up your love… around the table.
Includes 3 beautiful, printable PDFs:
-
- The Core Rulebook (50 pages)
- Character Sheet templates (6, one for each weapon-type)
- The Mini-RPG, a one-shot quickstart guide (5 pages)
All you need to bring is two six-sided dice and your imagination!
As you might have guessed from the requirement of two six-sided dice, the Boyfriend Dungeon TTRPG is loosely based on the Powered by the Apocalypse framework. Though the game uses its own system: Life on the Edge, you can clearly see its RPG mechanics lineage in the character sheet, pictured above. At the core of it all is the idea of people who transform into weapons. And then they’re wielded and wooed in equal measure.
The rules were composed by Maso Perez in coordination with Kitfox Games in order to create the ideal storytelling experience in the vein of (but distinct from) the Boyfriend Dungeon video game. But you need not be stuck in Verona Beach if you’re craving something more fantastic. You can easily use it to roleplay as Arthurian knight-swords, anxious roommates, an adventuring party, star-crossed Shakespearean rapiers, or any other weapon-people you can imagine.
The game is set in Boyfriend Dungeon’s Verona Beach. But you’ll have plenty of tools for making the game your own. As long as you are a weapon-person, The Boyfriend Dungeon TTRPG will support whatever romantic dreams you may have.
But don’t take my word for it. You can try it out for yourself. The TTRPG core book is available on DriveThruRPG for less than the price of a full meal at a sit down restaurant.
Time to raid the Dunj, as they say.
