The Spring Wind blows and Crom approves of these Conan and Red Sonja cosplays.
The 1980s were a glorious decade of sword and sorcery films. Each was inspired by comics, graphic novels, and role-playing game systems like Dungeons & Dragons. Through the years, sword and sorcery have maintained their popularity among fans. Today, we’re celebrating the heroic collaboration of Conan and Red Sonja cosplays right out of the comics.

Conan the Barbarian is one of the most remembered films of the sword and sorcery genre, with his epic quest to avenge his people and discover his place in society. After that, Red Sonja continued the hero’s journey on her quest to avenge her sister and save the world from destruction. Both characters use swords, steel, and witty repartee to forge their path through cinematic history.

“To crush your enemies. See them driven before you. And to hear the lamentations of their women.”
“Fire and wind come from the sky, from the gods of the sky. But Crom is your god, Crom, and he lives in the earth. Once, giants lived in the Earth, Conan. And in the darkness of chaos, they fooled Crom, and they took from him the enigma of steel. Crom was angered.”
“For us, there is no spring. Just the wind that smells fresh before the storm.”
“Crom, I have never prayed to you before. I have no tongue for it. No one, not even you, will remember if we were good men or bad. Why we fought, or why we died. All that matters is that two stood against many. That’s what’s important! Valor pleases you, Crom… so grant me one request. Grant me revenge! And if you do not listen, then to HELL with you!”
“No half-baked Hellhorde slays Red Sonja!“
“I remember days like this when my father took me to the forest, and we ate wild blueberries. More than 20 years ago. I was just a boy of four or five. The leaves were so dark and green then. The grass smelled sweet with the spring wind.”
“We are not rivals – save in your eyes. Conan has been my friend – my comrade – even my foeman at times – but neither he nor any man has been my lover!”
“He is strong! If I die, I have to go before him, and he will ask me, “What is the riddle of steel?” If I don’t know it, he will cast me out of Valhalla and laugh at me. That’s Crom, strong on his mountain!”
“No man may have me unless he’s beaten me in a fair fight.”
“And the Earth shook. Fire and wind struck down these giants, and they threw their bodies into the waters, but in their rage, the gods forgot the secret of steel and left it on the battlefield. We who found it are just men. Not gods. Not giants. Just men.”
“The secret of steel has always carried with it a mystery. You must learn its riddle, Conan. You must learn its discipline.”
For no one – no one in this world can you trust. Not men, not women, not beasts…”
“[points to sword] This you can trust.””That takes no daring. But when I’ve killed you will your warriors let me go unharmed?”
“The riddle… of steel.”
“What gods do you pray to?”
“To Crom… but I seldom pray to him, he doesn’t listen.”
“He is strong! If I die, I have to go before him, and he will ask me, “What is the riddle of steel?” If I don’t know it, he will cast me out of Valhalla and laugh at me. That’s Crom, strong on his mountain!”
“You killed my father, you killed my people! You took my father’s sword…”
“Crom laughs at your four winds. He laughs from his mountain.”
“Almost 20 years of pitiless cumber! No rest, no sleep like other men. And yet the spring wind blows, Subotai. Have you ever felt such a wind?”
“It’s never too late, Subotai.”
“I know my future. You have none.”
“Suppose I don’t. Suppose, instead, I open up that great, fat belly of yours?”
“But why didn’t you tell me who you were?”
“I live, I love, I slay, and I am content.”
