‘Total War: Pharaoh’s Free ‘High Tide’ Update Will Unleash The Sea People
Total War: Pharaoh is looking better and better with the reveal of a new update featuring new factions and more, all free!
Total War: Pharaoh has been through some turbulent waters, of late. But now, it seems, the tides are turning. A new update trailer reveals big things coming to the beleaguered game, and all for free.
The High Tide update for Total War: Pharaoh promises to unleash the Sea People, by which we mean, make them playable, as well as introduce new mechanics, new paths for leaders, and perhaps most astoundingly of all, dismountable chariots. Check it out!
Total War: Pharaoh – High Tide Update
The High Tide update is a free update to all current and future PHARAOH owners! Dark sails on the horizon tell of the coming storm. Drive the Bronze Age Collapse by playing as one of two new factions from the Sea Peoples culture. The ruthless Sherden strive only to destroy and sacrifice while the Peleset are on the warpath to establish a new homeland.
This is a massive update. Alongside the new factions is a new “horde style” of gameplay that emphasizes the crushing weight of your numbers as you bring about the collapse of the Bronze Age.
The two new factions look exciting, whether you’re playing as the marauding Sherden, who are looking to raid and plumber their way across the lands while they grow the uncontestable might of their horde, or as the Peleset, looking to carve a new home for themselves out of the bones of the ancient empires in Canaan, there’s a lot to be excited about.
Hold the line with Nuraghe Warriors, specialist Sherden infantry that can form a Kelone (a turtle-like formation using shields) to protect themselves from missile fire. Flank your enemies with Oxen Carts: dismountable chariot units that deliver Peleset shock troops into the heart of battle. Set the field of battle on fire with Sherden Bowmen, archers capable of firing sulphur tipped arrows that ignite the ground beneath their enemies’ feet. Spear your foes with Nuraghe Harpooneers – elite Sherden ranged infantry units armed with savage harpoons that can kill instantly, which is also capable of holding their own in melee combat.
That’s just a taste of what awaits you. There are 37 new units in all. And the new units are just the surface.
Creative Assembly also has new options for forging your own royal path, including two new options for the new factions:
- The new “Forge your own path” tradition is a choice available to all factions in the game.
- The Path of the Marauder is open to all factions who’ve selected the Forge Your Own Path tradition – win battles, earn Eminence, grow your might, spread unheard-of destruction!
- The Path of the Sea Peoples allows that culture to manage the balance between their Hordes, Armies, Settlements and Tribal Outposts to tailor their bonuses to their playstyle.
The High Tide Update is due out January 25th!
