Star Wars: Shatterpoint – The Miniatures Of The ‘Fearless And Inventive’ Squad Pack
There a new batch of Shatterpoint Squad Packs out and we got them built. Check out the minis of the Fearless And Inventive Squad Pack!
Atomic Mass Games was kind enough to send us the new Star Wars: Shatterpoint Squad Packs from this wave of releases. These packs have also hit stores this weekend so you’ll be able to pick them up yourself! For now, we’re tackling the Squad Pack I had been waiting on: Fearless And Inventive.
Why this pack? Because of Luke Skywalker, of course!
Fearless And Inventive Squad Pack
Luke Skywalker
First up, lemme just say that you miss things like mould lines and glue bubbles when you’re assembling sometimes. But then you take a super hi-rez photo in better light and BOOM — there they are. Anyhow, I did go back and scrape down the lines and fix that glue bubble. The takeaway here is that if you really want a clean surface to paint, take a hi-rez photo of the mini when it’s still bare plastic. You’ll find lots of problems…
ANYHOW, in terms of assembly this miniature (and pretty much all of them in the box) go together easy and breezy. I did notice there were more mould lines on this run however. But I could have just gotten unlucky. And obviously, I missed a few because they are barely noticeable to the naked eye. I really liked this pose of Luke in a defensive stance. I also appreciated the various options for this model. You actually get a different torso and legs for an alternate outfit.
I had been waiting for Luke Skywalker to enter the fray and now that he’s here I’m definitely going to paint him up and throwdown in Star Wars: Shatterpoint. Good thing I have a bunch more ‘A New Hope’ Era Rebel units to work with now…
Boushh (Leia Organa)
Leia Organa as Boushh is another great miniature. Again, hi-rez photos find ALL the flaws which I can now go back and fix. Anyhow, this was another mini with loads of great options. Instead of a helmet you can have Leia without the mask. You can also swap the thermal detonator with a blaster as well. I always appreciated this “version” of Leia: a cutthroat bounty hunter. Sure, she was really there to rescue Han, but between the badass costume, the voice modulator, and a bad attitude “Boushh” was quite the character. And then Leia took her mask off and shocked us all!
Lando
Lando’s “disguise” always cracked me up as a kid. It was like he took one look at the Gamoerrean (the Orc dudes) and said, “yeah, I’ll be one of those guys…Just need a helmet with some tusks.” And BOOM, here you go! Still, I like the outfit and Billy Dee Williams is great in pretty much everything. So I’m just rolling with this one. I also appreciated the details on the shoulder pad. As for alternate options, you can build him without the helment, too.
R2-D2
And finally there’s the ever trusty R2-D2. On the box you can see there’s a version of him with the drink ‘cart’ on his head. You can build that one or you can go with a more standard version. Also note the third leg he has deployed. I liked this version has he’s not as upright and this is more of an R2-D2 go vroom pose. It’s actually a really clean model with crisp details, too.
It’s a great group of miniatures and I know it’s called the Fearless and Inventive Squad Pack, but I’ve taken to calling it the Tatooine Rescue Squad for obvious reasons. Again, this pack is out now and in stores this weekend. Grab it while the Force is with you!
Star Wars: Shatterpoint – Fearless and Inventive Squad Pack $49.99
Four iconic heroes join Star Wars™: Shatterpoint in this new pack! With the Force as his ally, Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker leads this squad of Rebels as a Primary Unit. He is joined by Leia Organa in her Boussh disguise as a Secondary Unit while Lando Calrissian and R2-D2 join forces as a Supporting Unit. Based upon these characters’ daring mission to rescue Han Solo in Return of the Jedi, they form a full Galactic Civil War-era squad that works particularly well with characters with Rebel Alliance tags.
The Nostalgia is strong with this pack.
